  • Vegan Protein Extreme - Chocolate silk. I've not tried any other flavours.

  • Hope it works for you, it may, of course just be my peculiar taste. :)

I have little taste memory of egg mayonnaise, having last eaten it about 26 years ago.

  • I’ve just learned that TPW have a referral scheme should you be thinking about ordering from them. I get £10 worth of points and you get 250g free protein.

    My code is SH1238309

  • Any recent developments in who's making decent vegan trainers or resources which collate what trainers are vegan? Apart from Onitsuka Tiger.

  • Superga have done a sustainable version of there canvas trainer.

  • I know it’s a paradigm shift and not everyone’s cup of tea, but vivobarefoot have a pretty wide selection, that constantly changes depending on the season.

Once you get used to barefoot shoes there’s no going back though.

  • And you can get 20% off your first pair with the code LM20.

  • Last Resort AB are making vegan skater owned skate shoes (VM001 Canvas) if simple vulc soles shoes are your thing. Available at skate shops (Palomino, Slam etc)

  • https://www.sayebrand.com/ seem to do some interesting stuff, transparent about their materials and do some reforestation. Not fully vegan though, they do some leather ones

  • If you like barefoot styles, look at http://www.freetbarefoot.com as well, generally cheaper and in my opinion more comfy than vivo.

  • Adidas do a lot of their classic trainers vegan now

  • I've bought from Will's Vegan Shoes in the past which have some ~~casual trainers, otherwise I tend to get suede-free NB 574s. I don't know of a curated/collated list, though. That'd be handy

  • Thanks for various recommendations for shoes. It's a bit of a minefield. I was looking to buy some Merrell sandals (Kahuna 3), which I've bought before. The site I found had them listed as 'pig suede upper', but the Merrell site has them specifically listed in the vegan section.

Here's an example - Onitsuka Tiger have long been seen as a vegan shoe, but the info is really confused/confusing:

vegankicks says Onitsuka Tiger are vegan (2019 post): https://www.vegankicks.com/asics-vegan-shoes/

topveganshoes says Onitsuka Tiger aren't vegan (2021 post, v badly-written) and says that they have removed any reference to them being vegan: https://www.topveganshoes.com/asics-vegan-shoes/

Onitsuka Tiger has its own vegan section (current, v badly-written): https://www.onitsukatiger.com/gb/en-gb/vegan/c/ot94000000/

Easy solution is to buy from a dedicated vegan company, but unfortunately, most of their shoes look like shit.

  • Steer clear of Vegan DMs, horribly uncomfortable & overpriced!

  • Anyone up for a houseshare?

Vegan + cyclist would be my dream combo of housemate (s) - Budget around £700 i dont really mind where I live in london but have been SE for nearlly 10 years now - kinda like it here - have a few bikes (who doesnt)? a desk and lots of herbs and spices. DM me if anyone / anyone you know is in the same boat. I'd be wlling to fork out for a nicer place.

  • They take a while to break in but are comfy once they do. In my experience anyway. Can't really argue that they aren't expensive though! I've got a mate who used to let me use his staff discount when he worked for them, I'm not sure I could bring myself to pay full price.

  • They destroyed my feet once when I wore thin socks; after that my patience ran out trying to break them in!

  • That's fair enough, it does take a while!

  • Just realised I knew this and had a pair in the back of the wardrobe I bought a couple of years ago and forgot about! (they're yellow, I bought them in autumn and forgot about them when spring came around)

  • Went to a National Trust place yesterday that actually had vegan options so I had a massive bit of chocolate fudge cake

  • wow. National Trust. Vegan options. never thought id hear the day!

  • Yeah mental, this was at Flatford Mill. Today I was at RSPB Minsmere, they had quite a few vegan options too both sweet and savoury.

  • Banzai Bikes in Mildmay Grove North are opening a vegan café on the premises soon.
