Sorry, had to unbox in the kitchen surrounded by kids and the in-laws. Itās fricken beautiful. Always though of SGās as somehow being a bit delicate but itās beast of a thing. Chunky neck, wide fretboard, big frets... it feels proper manly.

Amongst all the other cool details, I love that headstock š

Likewise - just the right kind of size

Very nice, wide range? Talk us through it, what does the switch above the lead socket do?

• #11490
Mate, thatās a seriously cool thing. Show us some in progress pics?

Cheers folks!
Itās made of swamp ash, hollow body, with a set rosewood neck (24.75ā scale). The pickups are Creamery PAF-sized WRHBs, and itās got a Tele-style half bridge. Itās essentially a (slightly odd) mash-up of a Thinline Tele with a Les Paul DC Special.
what does the switch above the lead socket do?
Thatās a phase switch. You canāt really see it in the photos, but the pickguard is transparent, so you can see the wiring behind it.

I donāt want to flood the place with photos, but you can see a lot of in-progress stuff on my Instagram.
Also, there are videos of the build on my YouTube channel - Iāve been making it for the 2021 Great Guitar Build Off, part of which is videoing the build.
Iām no Youtube personality, so this part was a challenge for me. I eventually opted for music and subtitles, rather than subject everyone to my monotonous droning.

This looks fantastic mate, very well done!

Woah. Cool!
-
• #11495
That looks great. How does it play?
-
• #11496
Really well - itās very light, but resonant and gritty. I originally had the strings top-loaded through the bridge, but Iāve changed them to proper Tele style through-body with ferrules on the back. Made a huge difference to the sustain.

That looks great! The LP/thinline combo really appeals too.

Luthier's pic (before final touches) of my Aria P-bass, will pick it up today. Set up to C standard, 120-100-80-60 strings, custom matte black pickguard. Never tried a bass that was properly tuned down before, much excite. Can't wait to get my hands on it!
