Thanks for the conversion idea. Have an option to have a stock 6 speed but really not keen with m handlebars
how specialised is it to change out the stem? It seems like they're not sold aftermarket.
An acquaintance is wanting to sell their project bike (abandoned nano motor m6l experiment) for a decent price. I have a spare front wheel and would just need to find a stem

Easy to find frame parts if you know where to look / who to ask...

Forget asking anyone, just try eBay.

You do know who +user91463 is right?
I have a matte black stem in addition to a few other frame parts too but I'm keeping them! ;)

I’ve always wondered about touring on a Brompton as a way to ride the nice stuff and skip the boring bits.
Came across this piece on pannier.cc with some nice photos and video on doing just that across Wales: https://www.pannier.cc/journal/brompton-bikepacking-wales-rarebit-ramble-ride/

That looks like a lot of fun.

It does! Was trying to work out which route they took, some of the shots from mid wales look properly suited to a long weekend away

Are Conti Contact Urbans the chunkiest Brompton tyre you can get without going full Kinetics/eerder metaal?
-
• #9862
they are 35mm, same as marathon racers (but much nicer ride) Eerder did find some primo somethings; I think Schwalbe Ones come up a touch wider than the Urbans TBH

Sorry I know it’s been discussed before but seems to change quite often, what’s the go to tyre at the moment? (For speed and protection?). I don’t need the speed of kojaks but want something slightly nimbler than the marathons. Marathon racers or conti urbans? It’s a 2013 if that affects fit. Cheers :)

Continental seems to be the way forward.

Saw this yesterday on my way back home and couldn’t believe people still do this…

Is it the lack of a dynohub?
-
• #9867
I saw one chained up around the seatpost the other day, wish I’d taken a photo. Luckily in a village so the rider probably got away with it

Anyone bodged a front mudguard protector? I know eerder sells something along those lines
-
• #9869
I've done it in Oz but I live way out in the boondocks, would never do it in the city... TBH I wouldn't do it at all now...

Sjs got Eerder ones in stock

Having had new conti tyres split the sidewall and the tube burst with the bike just sitting in the flat. Hippy had a sidewall tear on him on the road. So something I would not trust again.

Does anyone have an old/spare Brompton 16" front wheel? I can offer cash and/or beer.
Looking for one with a tyre ideally but will consider anything.
This is why you shouldn't reply when you wake up to take a piss...
