B&M at least

Or even better, B+M!

I am $2300 a day.

• #1731
I assumed there was some facetiousness to that.
If not I am in the wrong job, again

Jinx!

• #1733
Hah! But, no. I figured you were talking about the bargain food shop/cash & carry? I was making a differentiation between B&M and B+M, who are the German utilitarian dynamo bike light people.
Amusingly, in Germany their 'fun' website name is bumm.de, which stands for Busch Und Muller DE, or something can't quite figure out what the second M stands for. Bumdy!

My parents house is two along from that of Q from B&Q, I adopted the rabbit of the student who used to lodge with them when she went home.

I'd guess that it doesn't stand for anything, but is meant to make the URL easier to remember for Germans. "Bumm" (pronounced with an 'oo' as in 'took') is the German equivalent of 'boom' as onomatopoeic for an explosive sound (but can also indicate a percussive sound).

The rate I used to get charged at is not what I used to get paid.
But then the clients wouldn't be charged for flights/hotels/per-diem/etc, they'd just pay a big whacking day rate.

Metallurgical inspection is the most expensive thing I deal with for work. One guy spends a hour inspecting an item, does a bit of lab work then sends a report that is mostly boilerplate - £4.6k. To inspect a second item adds £300 to the cost, which gives an idea of the actual off-site work involved!

So good...

Only if read out of context, sadly: https://www.lfgss.com/comments/16044520/

Oh, I know, I saw the original comment, but on its own it's an absolute doozy... 🙃

Fair enough, it just struck me as a weak effort, to misrepresent the OP so completely and utterly.
As large parts of the forum appears to have been plucked from a Brett Easton Ellis novel, I'm not sure why anyone would feel the need to make shit up.

It's just half a sentence plucked completely out of context... I guess you've gotta take the lolz where you can get them these days, it's slim pickings out there...

The fun of this thread was originally taking the piss out of the same couple of new money guys who talk about nothing other than their wads. But, as they got in on the joke and started playing up to it, there was more mileage in taking less-egregious quotes out of context leaving us to guess or work out how genuinely 'golf club' the original statement was. My only appearance here was taken well out of context, but effective in making me sound like a yachty prick. I was very proud.

I am also very proud........however I have to o mention the phrase......
new money
-
• #1747
Nouveau riche, surely, if we are going for full golf club sneer.
-
• #1748
The snobbery in the term new money/nouveau riche is pretty appalling, you have been called out on it before.
-
• #1749
The only time I think I ever got in here was from someone whose previous few comments were telling people what to do in the investments thread, which seemed pretty golf club to me! Can’t take it too seriously I guess

The OP has asked on lfgss what to do with their inheritance(s)!
Meh, wake me when you can introduce me to the B&Q chairman.
