Anyone with an allotment?

Solid day of burning brambles during the gales here in Walthamstow. Brazier has turned into a blast furnace in the wind and vaporising anything i throw near it.

Also used an abandoned water tank to make a little raspberry planter.

That planter is excellent.

Smashed a bunch of drainage holes in the bottom with pickaxe and raised up on angle iron on top of a tray that must have been part of the tank originally as perfect fit. Hopefully this will contain them and stop them replacing the brambles I’ve spent so long digging up.
There were just bare root when I was given them so just stuck them in and watered them well. Hopefully they’ll survive.

Starting to take shape. Need a few loads of chip for paths tho.

Last of the 5 varieties of potato we’re growing went in today. Found this worm, hard to convey in a photo but genuinely the fattest earthworm I’ve ever seen.

Yup, Lockwood Reservoir up by the north circ.

Smashed out digging over 3 beds today and got seeds in one. Other 2 need covering for a bit I reckon so will use them when it’s time to plant winter stuff I guess.
Raspberries I stuck in yesterday looked a little wilty so made a windbreak from some correx and gave em a dose of plant food for good measure.

A decent haul of salad leaves today – nice to see some results after taking the plot on in September. Greenhouse inhabitants looking strong, and strawberries are cracking on nicely too.

I had a whole afternoon at the plot today. Burnt a lot of wood that had been hanging around for months.

My dahlia and peony beds are coming along nicely.

Ace. Yesterday I sealed up my 3rd 2l bottle of the black gold. Then cracked one open to feed my squash & courgettes with.

I'm going to need this explained...

Rad! Like something from Breaking Bad for the garden. I like your style. I only make compost tea myself.

Cool, how does the water get into the pipe? Need to get myself some comfrey.

Via this slightly rattier hack/bodged setup.

Ha ha ! Excellent.
It's keeping the rain water out of the mix that I've had a problem with in previous contraptions.

No water goes into the pipe - just leaves pressed down by a weight which over time decompose and release a thick black liquid.

Mine must collect some rain into the bottle, especially when the hose lid bodge is off, but only minor dilution it seems. The concentrate has to be diluted for use so I don't see a small amount as a bad thing.

I love the pipe idea but the tank with the hose also looks cool. It depends which I find in a skip first I suppose
