I remove watches but only because you can't wash your wrist without doing so.

and not to tempt fate. Ive smashed a rolex crystal cause i took it into a bathroom and it slippted off my clothes on a chair.

Anecdotally, the two most common causes of a smashed watch (as told to me by two different watchmakers) are in the bathroom and at airport security.

Hesalite bounces off floor tiles , sapphire doesn't .
