If you're a wine nerd (or even if you're not), riding along the Route des Grands Crus between Dijon and Beaune is very pleasant. Lots of little farm roads either side if you want to mix it up and regular villages for refreshment stops

I did 4 days cycling slowly from Dijon towards Auxerre along the canal - full touring with camping and cooking stuff. Amazing trip. Cannot wait to go back and do a different leg.
The canals are a great option but the surface is more gravelly unsuited to road tyres. The dust through. Everything will get covered in pale dust.
Started planning the trip this - https://www.francevelotourisme.com/itineraire/le-tour-de-bourgogne-a-velo
Are you credit card touring or going more laden?

Is Troyes in Burgundy? I stopped overnight there in July 2016 on my way to the the alps to follow Le Tour.
It was one of those typical windless French afternoons and a cloudless sky meant the heat was stifling and the tarmac was melting (really, you could hear it sucking as it tried to stick to the tyres) but we headed out for a ride which turned out to be really nice for an ad-hoc loop. The Foret d'Orient is nearby and very pretty

Mostly just riding loops starting around the Beaune area I think. So will either take the road bike or the gravel bike with me. Another time a few days credit card touring would be fun I think
@MTB-Idle - Troyes is a bit further north, not ridden there but been there a fair bit as it's a convenient stop when I drive to see my folks. Rode a bit further south-west (Auxerre) on a day that was as hot as hell and windy too; like riding in a bloody hairdryer. Lovely ride though.

good stuff, have fun
Anyone got any good routes in Burgundy? Road or gravel is good... might be spending a few days down there in a couple of weeks.
