  • The bars were still turning/rolling with 6Nm, but seem to be holding at 8. Deda Speciale 6061 bars.

  • I have a deda murex and it is printed with 12-14nm on the removable part of the clamp. Take that as a maximum - carbon bars would usually come with instructions giving a limit, that amount of torque would likely damage them.

  • The stem bars and seatpost will dictate that got nothing to do with the material on the frame.

Nothing as dissapointing as installing a new seatpost on a bike only to end up with scratches all the way along the shaft on the first ride cause one dident install it tight enough.

If installing carbon bits def use some carbon paste or toothpaste (with whitening) even as it will let you use a lower torque.

  • Very nice build.

Does anyone else think bars at that angle are under-rotated?

  • Just you :)

  • Yeah, the level ramps and flat transition to the hoods is very comfortable. Perfectly set up in my opinion. Looks the best too.

Only thing I don't like about compact bars are the drops, but I'm barely in them so not a deal breaker.

  • Right answer - had a look and it was printed there all along. Thank you!

  • Yeah it does feel like it’s just me. I get the hood position but the drop angle is too vertical IME. Oh well. V nice bike.

  • That is deeply good!

Maybe a different saddle but otherwise spot on.

@snoops - For me on a MGOOF build with a quill stem, that's about the right amount of bar rotation - it bugs me when there's a change of angle between the stem and the tops, and with big modern hoods like that you can get the more comfortable upward tilt easily enough without the levers looking too odd.

  • It's nice the Nag. I wonder the rims are?

EDIT: Found them, Reynolds KOM Carbon Tubs. good for pictures, not so much for riding.

  • i had a set of reynolds kom custom built a long time ago whith white ind hubs. There were beautiful and light but yeah they were sketchy to ride so they were soon exchanged.

  • fucking winner that. Any photos of it built up?

  • That "Nag" above makes me feel that too many black components on an old frame just doesn't look right. I appreciate that the stealth-bomber / carbon-fibre look has been in for all types of bike for the past 10+yrs; So it is what many on here have grown up with. But I don't think it suits the more delicate lines and paint of most classic frames. Modern silver kit however with some carbon hi-lights can be stunning.

While I was typing that, someone posted the Moots pic, which made my point perfectly.. A picture is worth 1000 words.

    That's my pensioner's 2p worth ;-)

  • Silver spokes would sort that IMO.

  • Think my old flickr account has some but it seems i have forgot the password or even what email to log in with :/ there goes a bunch of bike pics down the drain .)

I had posted this in another thread. Guess this is just after i realized the reynolds koms were not all that great riding and replaced them with what i believe was reynolds assault or 46s.

    Not a great pic..

  • These Nitto bars and Super Record don’t play well together. I was hoping to get out of this without having to buy a new stem/bars but now seems unlikely.

  • Build is looking peng regardless

...do I spy King Ti cages?

  • In what way? Looks like any other drop lever on a traditional drop bar setup, looking at the picture.

  • Kinda looks worse with Campag I think because they have that big sticky out corner on the top of the hoods. Maybe I’ll tape it up, angled as best I can and see how it goes.

  • Nope. Arundel Stainless. King cages suck.

  • Yah. Own both. Agree. My two weeks old King Cages look worse than my five year old Arundel stainless cages.

Needs OG fork please. Pretty please.

  • Looks great. Does anyone make a nice black cage in this style?
