TCR postponed another year; its official.
Huge sympathy to Anna and the team; 2 yrs of pain....
Looking forward to next yr, and a more traditional route.
-
• #378
ah shame.
-
• #379
Sorry; I thought it just stayed in France
Given todays news, for British riders who want to do the TPR need to tack on two weeks quarantine in France plus whatever the UK gov decides later this summer.
-
• #380
Today's news?
-
• #381
France has brought in 7 day quarentine for Brits
-
• #382
Aha, cheers
Yeah, definitely going to mess up TCR and similar.
-
• #383
And demonstrate an essential reason for their journey.
-
• #384
Disappointing for those who had been focusing on TCR.
I’ll miss seeing the stories unfold! -
• #385
Yeah, shame but not unexpected. Those that had a place, do you have another event you're going to do?
Re France 7 day quarantine, does it also apply if you're just travelling through France and not stopping? Ie if you're in a car from Calais to Spain for example?
-
• #386
I'd assume so. It did last year, so we couldn't drive to Germany, we had to fly.
-
• #387
Yep, assumed that would probably be the case.
-
• #388
It's probably unclear what'd happen if you got the ferry into Belgium or Netherlands or flew to another country first. Having been to France a few times in the last couple of weeks, their interest in the land borders is pretty much zero.

"Nicky Shaw, Josh Ibbett and Ben Davies will be discussing the TCR from a rider’s perspective."

"Apidura will be taking-over our social accounts to bring you some more intimate interviews with some Transcontinental Race characters past and present. "

No? Fat, mouthy, but let's be honest, sexy-as-fuck alpha males that enter even knowing they have no chance of placing not on-brand then?
Anyway, "We are excited to announce that we will be launching the eighth edition of the Transcontinental Race (yes we know - hopefully third time lucky!) at Rouleur Live and online on Thursday 4th November at 17:00 GMT. " https://www.rouleur.cc/collections/rouleur-live-tickets

I imagine your talk to be too long and explicit for these brands. They want to encourage people not tell them the horrors. 😁
-
• #391
No? Fat, mouthy, but let's be honest, sexy-as-fuck alpha males that enter even knowing they will cause famines all over Europe not on-brand then?
Fixed.

"too long and explicit"
That's what all the
girlsbrands say. -
• #393
Anyone joining the ride on Sunday?

The route is up on the website:
https://www.transcontinental.cc/Back to Geraardsbergen start, then a zigzag - first over to Czech REpublic, then back to the Italian alps. The last two controls are as 2020 - Durmitor and Transalpina, and Burgas finish.
IMHO a better route than the original 2020 one and Geraardsbergen a much better starting place than Brest.
-
• #398
Mos def
Transalpina though? What's that then
Ah, a road in Romania.
-
• #399
The Transalpina parcours is a gravel descent. Could be hairy in a storm at night!

Yeah much easier to get to. Controls look cool.
Sorry; I thought it just stayed in France. Thats a bit of a bugger; but I suppose 90% of the border crossings are old smugglers routes anyway; its not like TCR where there’s a formal ferry to Greece etc
I have given up predicting whats round the corner anymore though....
