Vague criteria
~ 10/11 speed groupsets
~ Modernised 26” mtbs
~ Pleasing to those in the know
~ Bougie tyres
~ Disc or rim brake allowed
~ Mainly sticking to wide 700c or 26”
~ Favouring utility over bling, but not cheaping out either
~ Luggage is preferred -

we are entering what philosophers will come to know as "3rd wave lufguss discourse"
if we perceive first wave to be pure bread bike stock, single speeds and fixed gears, threads about types of cycling. second wave to be an evolution into more diverse forms of cycling and bike aesthetics, as well as ethical and moral codes, the threads then about the types of bikes.
third wave, with this in mind, is the fetishization of such divergence, as we see defined bike categories being reimagined less so by their types of bike or types of cycling, but more so by the type of vibe they exude. for the riding, the rider and the tool is non important, for what is, to the third wave lufguss poster, is what that bike connotates to the world around them.
in this essay we will explore this theme, and contrast it against the changing, often aging demographic lufguss, combined with its change in economic profile and social status amongst the wider bike forums...

Can we just name this the ‘bicycles thread’?

You’re messing with the very fabric of the forum with that sort of dangerous talk…

I'm looking forward to the 4th wave where the bike itself ceases to be important, only its trace has any relevance. A virtual remnant of the early 21st century. My thoughts are that there will be another divergence; between madeleine nostalgia and the future shock of implanted emotion.

Finally a thread for my extremely mediocre Marin! Appreciated!
Although with my new C15 it's ever so slightly more wank-ish. -

We’re separatists, not animals.

Oh ok! That’s cool it fits 40s or is that normal for touring frames of the era? (I know nothing about touring frames)

Please explain this front canti hanger set up. If it is what I think it is, top bodging! Unless that's a thing you can actually buy?!
Bike looks great, I would submit a current ride but alloy...steel in the incredibly slow, possibly even blocked, pipeline

Its an actual thing you can buy! Its a little cam doodad. I think it supposedly gives a bit more mechanical advantage or something. Here’s a clearer photo, when most of the parts from that bike were on a different frame.

This thread is meant chiefly to deflect and reduce the inundation of the Wanker-bikes thread with sub-wanker 26ers, nice but not-stealable utility rigs and bikes that otherwise appear to be actually useful rather than just a place to hang a load of shinily expensive imported parts.
If you wanted to post a bike in that thread, but fall short of the requirements, chances are it belongs here.
