Updated on Friday evening (when coincidentally I was on my way to one of those towns) and no one noticed until Monday.
Suggests that maybe not many people are looking at the government guidance.
Also top marks for the government in still managing to piss people of 3 by trying not to piss them off. You'd have thought the debacle over Christmas would have taught them something.

We are booked into Woburn centre parcs for half term next week.
It's near Bedford. I presume the staff at the resort mainly live in and around Bedford.
I can't find any guidance about the parc closing or advising against travelling to it, but there is that ^^^
The resort itself is not in Bedford Borough Council.
Any views on what we should do?

More year groups shut down at my daughter's school in Clapham following outbreak there. Just as we came to the end of 10 days of isolating at home after my partner tested positive. So 8 year old is back to home schooling again. Which is annoying. Lots of accounts of whole families testing positive on school whatsapp. Does seem to be spreading surprisingly quickly/easily, which suggests variant, though they haven't officially confirmed this yet.

Seems like the government are once again fucking this up, having learnt nothing from their previous fuck ups. This variant is going to spread faster than warm butter on hot toast. It’s going to run into so many vaccinated and half-vaccinated people - the chance of it mutating further to escape the vaccine seems worryingly high. And yet Boris and co are back to sticking their thumbs up their arses and twiddling them whilst they do it.

I went to Newcastle on Saturday (obv not having seen the 'guidance') for a uni visit and the town centre was absolutely heaving. Haven't seen so many people for well over a year - it quite freaked me out. Was like Oxford St at Christmas in the before-times.
(As an aside, also impressed with Geordies starting their Sat night at 3.30pm).

Was the same in Portsmouth on Saturday night. I saw pubs that were shoulder to shoulder with youngsters. 200+ people in the same room with no more than 30cm between them.
Not necessarily passing judgement, more saying that it was an incongruous thing to see after the last year or so of high street quietness.

The government are saying that it's only guidance so it's fine to ignore it.
-
• #21914
The guidance is to ignore the guidance but if something goes wrong it's your fault because you ignored the guidance.

It is ridiculous.

But is the Government saying that it's only guidance so it's fine to ignore it guidance so it's fine to ignore it or not guidance so it's not fine to ignore it?

We should ask Bertrand Russel
-
• #21918
Ah, but he wouldn't be able to help with Government policy, as he only dealt in mathematical logic, which the Government strives to avoid.

Another two years at my children's school have just shut down due to another positive case (despite having only just re-opened after shutting down on the 14th). So now have both children off school again. Can't see any way widespread travel over half term, pubs being open, etc, etc is going to work out well...

Anything to avoid another expected u-turn when they said they’re not going back to Tiers system.

That’s for each individual to decide.

Look. Call Me Dave couldn't have been clearer about this when he set out his policies years ago.
"We're all in this together" so it'll be up to the individuals to act as government and to self govern. This includes global pandemic management and the book exchange bin at the local Aldi right? Righty then - as you were... unless you're in a high risk area in which case as you were before or as you weren't, unless you leave the area in which case as we were or as they were but NOT under any circumstances as it is, because IT isn't always as it is and sometimes it's as it was.
