Its almost like this thread was designed to post any Sklar "PBJ" build.

probably not wankery enough, although possibly the obnoxious tyre logos and basket contents may tip the balance?

Not wankery enough, I would wager this is a genuinely useful bike.

Agreed lots of useful nice looking bikes have been posted for sure, but to ascend into true wanker money needs to be thrown at parts you would too scared to use. There’s definitely a certain look a wanker bike takes on.

Are those plastic mudguards?
Just a lovely functional bike. -

I love that there’s even stricter rules here than Porn and HHSB threads.
I might still have to start the ‘eccentric touring and local nutter bike’ thread at some point tho... -

Deda has no place in this thread.

Perfectly pointless chariots. Finally someone that gets it.

This is my point. I’ve got a rockhopper that I’m itching to post here, but as much as it might possibly pass on technicalities (Thomson, 2.2s, wide bars…) it’s just not quite in the spirit of the thread I feel. I happily lock it up in town and it’s been thrown down trails and got all muddy.
Maybe if I whacked some Middleburn cranks with a Stridsland ring on. Pointless Thomson dropper post. A bit of Paul….

Yep exactly this. My take is the true Wankbrid is a bike generally built for knocking around on, that becomes too valuable due to extravagant parts choices, to leave unattended anywhere. A true test is would you leave it locked up somewhere all day (Edit: @maj maybe that should be one of the rules?)? The controversial tyre rule enforces that the bike is never going to be used as intended.
Mine upthread snuck in due to use of new Brooks Saddle, Middleburn cranks, hope wheels, Thomson, Salsa and Hope finishing kit, XT gears. All pointless if the bike is what it is supposed to be.
This then leads to needing another bike, one that is cheap and functional can genuinely be locked up and left without worry. I have started the build based on an old Surly frame. Wheels will be Phil Wood. Cranks Sugino. Cambium Saddle, Brakes Ultegra.... with each new bike I feel I have stepped inwards to the next concentric circle.

I’m willing to let the dirt drops slide when the rest of it is such a glistening, seething wankpit.

Hopefully those are some ridiculously priced custom U-brakes, otherwise it ain't wank enough.

Also is that a Paul neo retro on the front or do my eyes deceive?
