Bad thing?
-
• #19403
Well exactly, some people like centrelock.
As for the hubs, they're the same as Hunt, except for the disc mounting (same factory). -
• #19404
Yes exactly you can get this from LB but with dt350. Now as you say, for the common user, bitex and dt350 will perform the same. But since we are talking rrp... they are not on a par

plus 1 for Hope Rs4 / 20Five's - their hubs do last ages and rims are of good quality
plus 2 for Arkane - I whip skidded a wheel he built for me into the back of a van (unintentionally) and punctured on impact, rim barely showed any sign of incident, was maybe a mm out of true. That was 2 years ago and I'm still riding that wheelset like a heathen. They don't call him the wizard of Brockley for nothing.I am no professional on the matter but I know a number of mechanics and other industry workers who very much dislike and advise against Hunt wheels.
also they didn't give me a job so +1 for not buying Hunt

My mechanics dont rate the hunt wheels either . A mate has gone through 3 sets in as many years . Two others have failed as well . Hope pro 4 for me that you can fix with a stick👍 Presuming they will break at some point.

I would prefer Bitex over DT350 I think. Neither are perfect, both are pretty good. I secretly lust after Hopes, in green, which they don’t make.

• #19408
Also ... my LB rear wheel was dished ~3mm towards the drive-side.
It was easy enough to fix, but it doesn’t feel great having to correct a brand new wheel.
-
• #19409
Also also also, some of those team wheels you can't actually buy.
I don’t think that’s true. With UCI rules doesn’t everything on the bike need to be able to be purchased by a joe off the street?

Ineos use tyres unavailable to the public, according to GCN.
-
• #19411
Pro 4s are louder than RS4s if you care about that sort of thing
-
• #19412
Remove two of the four pawls in a pro4 hub to turn it into an RS4, in terms of drag and noise. I have done this to my Pro3 hubs successfully.

UCI article 1.3.006
“The entire used material must be accessible to all participants. All the components must be available commercially (i.e. available on the market or sold directly by the manufacturer) at the latest twelve months after their first use in competition. If such a deadline is requested and accepted by the UCI, the manufacturer must publicly announce that the product in question is being used in competition and when it will be available for sale. In all cases the product must be in a final stage of development, very similar to the product that will be marketed.”

“ Specialized will sell a limited-edition run of these Roubaix framesets to the public. Price: $4,250.”
I think this was to skirt the rules like the Cervelo Muds made for the Roubaix, it was something silly like 8 of each size were made available for sale.

they didnt for few years, then the last one they did, the one that had discs
-
• #19418
Love that you can get a t-shirt for €8, a buff for €4 and some shoes for €3,500 (ok, two pairs and an extra pair for €550).
How do the shoes stay on with that super low heel cup though, are they using some sort of advanced Croc tech?

• #19419
some vile weather and I have no idea how to service a hub
As the current owner of those wheels, I can confirm the second part of this sentence is true.
(sorry Amey)
Great wheels though. -
• #19420
imo, the detailing, finish and weight is pretty different. but i am comparing rim brake options.
obviously hope has a better finish and sounds better than both, but weighs more -
• #19421
Yeah, theyll be LB rims on Bitex hubs. All available to a consumer.

The Domane H1 the factory team used at launch was not available for the public.

Has this been resolved yet?

I think you've successfully killed the gravel thread
Alpkit. Decently light, not too spendy.
The only bad thing is that they are 6 bolt disc mounts.
