not strong enough, snaps after a few rides.
I got a spare one at great expense from Japan that's an etrex-gopro adapter. made by a company called REC MOUNTS JP
if you're interested could sell it on to you. -

I don't know about those, but if you can find someone with a 3D printer:

It is good to know about the weakness of the Shapeways mount.
For my 80mm quill stem, I'm not sure of the advantages of going via a go-pro fixing with the REC MOUNTS JP one, as the large mount is left in place like the Garmin mount for the eTrex.

Question.
This AM I daftly managed to pause my Wahoo Elemnt Roam by mistake mid ride. Doh.
I can now see the whole ride data in wahoo but it obs shows the data as half ridden and half paused.
Any idea if I can recover / undo the paused bit? To get my whole ride back. No stress if I cant just thinking I cant be the first to do this.
Cheers -

I don't think they record anything in the gap. So no.

Robbed .... myself!
Weird as the whole route shows up in the companion app. -
• #2083
Surely if it exists in the app it can be extracted. Can you get to its temp storage on the phone? (Android?)

How do Garmin 1030 plus, 830 and wahoo roam compare for routing?
My old 1000 has died and needs replacement
-
• #2085
830 is the best Garmin in my opinion at the moment. Battery life is ace and the screen refresh is nice and fast. Route recces and planning is part of my job and I've never had issues with mine as a means of navigation. I had a 1030 but sold it as found it unnecessarily big.
-
• #2086
With the caveat that statment is so if you like the touch screen.
If touch screen was annoying, go 530.
-
• #2087
Haha I hated the 530, I couldn't stand how fiddly it was to navigate the map without the touch screen. But each to their own I guess.

I only noticed there was a 'Plus' model this morning. I read that it doesn't have an SD slot so I immediately dismissed it. But I wonder if it's any faster redrawing the screen than the 1030?
-
• #2089
Well yes its terrible for navigating on the fly. But for the basics, and a screen that works when wet, its superior. I gave up using garmins for routing on the fly a while ago, and just use my phone as its far simpler and clearer. So using the 530 is ideal for me.

• #2090
Agreed. For just following a route the 530 is great. For on-the-fly detours I find the extra screen area of the 1030 a benefit compared to the smaller form factor head units like the 830.
-
• #2092
So you take the 1030 when you plan to get lost; considering, could you please elaborate on your last ‘on-the-fly-detour’ to cheer us up?
-
• #2093
I know a lot of people had some justified beef with the first version but the Karoo 2 has excellent routing - instant automatic rerouting if you go off route and the screen is really great. They update the unit once a month too, and they've just released an app store for the unit. Currently it's only official app is Xert but clearly the plan is to add to it with things like Zwift Companion, Trainerroad etc.

It's not so much when I plan to get lost. It's more where I've planned a long route over terrain I don't know, and it turns out that ridewithgps has decided that a nice near-vertical goat track is a better option than the smooth black tarmac option, at which point I make the executive decision to ignore it and then work out how to get back on track using the 1030.
Although there was one time when we got properly lost Le Grande-Motte on TPBR and ended up on a gravel track by a river in the middle of the night which, it turned out, went nowhere.

Is there an easy way to migrate bike profiles, sensors etc from edge 1000 to edge 830?
-
• #2096
I feel like this has got to be the clear winner once refined a bit more (not that I've used one but anecdotally) - I'd like to get one but a bit too much outlay for me at the mo until it's more bedded in. Main question for me, as is the way for all these devices - how's battery life in reality?
-
• #2097
Actually very good - I rode for about 2 hours 45 last night and had about 80% left
-
• #2098
No maps engaged though
-
• #2099
Battery consumption on my K2 is around 8% an hour. Really liking it so far. Nice updates every two weeks, responsive and clear screen, quick routing and rerouting,... Used it as a hiking gps last weekend and was perfect.

Could someone confirm if the Wahoo Roam will display elevation profile on the map page?
I'm using a Garmin eTrex 32x. Has anyone tried the 3d-printed eTrex to Edge mount adaptor available from Shapeways. Is it strong enough or would I be better off going Garmin's own bulky mount designed for the eTrex?
