  • Was just thinking it's been a long time since we had a bizarre Monaco grand prix plagued by rain, multiple spinouts and the leaders all crashing and breaking down. Maybe this year.

  • Ferraris seemed very strong this time! There might even be a podium for them on sunday.
Also my prediction: someone crashes into Mazepin while lapping (more Verstappen than Hamilton), causing a red flag -> Leclerc Sainz double Ferrari podium. You heard it here first

  • A bit of an unfortunate way to lock his pole but I'm neither surprised nor sad that Leclerc got it, even though Verstappen, Bottas and Sainz were challenging it at the end.

  • I'd be surprised if his gearbox wasn't fucked from the crash tho. I'll subscribe to the ferrari 1-2 story tho

  • Unusually excited for the Monaco procession. By no means a Ferrari fan but would love to see them win today, if only to mix things up a bit.

  • links to streams ? asking for a friend

  • Good to see they gave that gearbox a thorough check.

  • Ferrari gambled. Looks like they might have lost. LOL.

  • Leclerc is not going to race https://twitter.com/F1/status/1396445720551505929
    Really, really bummed

  • Meh.

He binned it in the wall and the team took a ridiculous considering the scale of the impact.

It’s cost them constructor and driver WC points.

    All their fault.

  • Pretty miffed at Leclerc's misfortune, but that was some driving from Vettel there!

Edit: And Perez, some excellent overcuts going on today

  • Also classic Merc move screwing up Bottas' pit

  • Anyone see what happened Schumacher btw? Seem to have a healthy lead over Mazepin then suddenly 5 seconds behind.

  • Fuck me that was a waste of time.

    Happy for Norris.

  • Couldn't agree more with you!

  • To be fair, they're pretty limited in the amount of testing they could do and unless it was obviously broken I can understand wanting to take the risk to run it from pole. Don't really understand Binotto saying they wouldn't take the risk, then taking the risk. But then again, I don't understand most of what Binotto says/does.

  • Ricc must also be miserable right now, being lapped by his own team mate

  • I'd hope he has the confidence at this point to know it's just a matter of time before he get to grips with the car.

  • Not loving this track, but all’s ok that ends ok.

  • Well, that was dull. The most exciting thing to happen took place before the race even started.

  • When was the last time Monaco was anything but a procession? Even in the rain it's just a procession with more pit stops and retirements. I feel like I'm alone on this thread in having set my expectations correctly for Sunday!

  • I often wonder how good an F1 driver is. Really, what are the chances that the son of a billionaire F1 team owner is also the 15th best driver in the world?

  • Someone who's had a lifetime of being able to pursue their hobby to the level they want probably gets pretty good after 20 years

  • When was the last time Monaco was anything but a procession?

Oh, indeed. Probably that time Olivier Panis won in the Ligier. My expectations were low - I set aside 15 minutes to fast forward through the 'highlights' show.

  • The cars are just too big and too fast for somewhere as small as Monaco now. Same goes for a number of other tracks. I maintain that the only place you could see true side-by-side racing would be somewhere the size of Le Mans.

Maybe they need to run a Monaco-only trim. Something with all the horsepower but a distinct lack of grip ie smaller tyres, no wings and no flat floor.
