• Unfortunately, Gravel has not received adequate national media coverage. So, a lot of the public isn’t even aware of this damaging new synthetic drug until it gets a foothold in their community.

  • A friend decided to take up crit racing in 2017. He’s a good rider hadn’t ever done any bike racing of any kind, ever. His bikes are titanium or carbon and his wheels are all zipps or Shimano DA. He did three cat 4 races. Crashed, fucking a wheel in the first. A ti frame, two wheels a pedal and himself in the second and himself again (bike largely unscathed) in the third with weeks in a cast.

I said he should take up crack. It’s cheaper and better for health.

  • Haha
I mean, at your comment, not at his misfortune.

Even back when I raced crits I was on boring 32h alu rims and an alu bike. It was the done thing for most riders unless you were national squad, or paid and then you might be on some Zipps or something (there weren't so many rich guys then, they were still playing golf).
But now, every bastard is on deep carbon and carbon frames and then you deck it and your bike is a write off. My bike is still going 20 years later.

  • Never race what you can't afford to replace.
