As I don't understand much about cars, I got quite confused why I would have to factor my cats in my car purchase... surely the cat boxes would fit perfectly fine if/when I need to bring them to the vet...
Just did a quick google to understand the issue and as you said, catalysts thief seems like a big problem at the moment. I live in a gated development, so the car would be parked overnight in a gated compound - I guess this reduces the risk? Or people are really getting these during daylight across town?

You have to factor in the cats.
Two Auris, one Prius and a brace of Jazz in the workshop since Monday last week to today for replacement catalysts. The Aurises' cats were stolen at different houses 5o metres apart on the same road within minutes of each other. They really are getting hammered everywhere.
I drove a Yeti Monte Carlo for about 10 miles the other day, 170bhp and an absolute hoot but I think they might eat tyres.
