the idea of having to frequently replace AAA batteries on a daily-use scale these days seems bonkers to me
Some of my rechargeable AAs and AAAs are 12 years old now and all but one heavily used pair work as well as the day I bought them. Can highly recommend the low self discharge GP Recyko NiMh ones. Got them in everything. They'll easily do a year in the remote controls before needing recharging.
It's another scales question! This one is for pourover people.
I did a fair bit of research on scales last year and settled on the My Weigh Barista ones. Primarily I wanted something durable and simple (no bluetooth/smartphone app stuff) and reasonably affordable, crucially with a USB-rechargeable internal battery because the idea of having to frequently replace AAA batteries on a daily-use scale these days seems bonkers to me. They are perfect on almost every level but have a maddening design flaw, which is that the timer automatically stops and can only be reset to zero if the scale notices any 'drastic' weight change during brewing. Because this feature is insanely sensitive (as in, so much as stirring the slurry will usually stop the timer), they're basically useless for pourovers. So, I think I might try to move them on and get something else.
What else are you all using that fit the bill of being rechargeable and well made? Should I just have splashed out on the Hario V60 one at double the price of the My Weigh one?
