I serviced my mates cosmic elite freehub last month. It had got very noisy. It basically screamed. Turned out it only needed dismantling, cleaning and re-oiling. The pawls had got so gunked up that they couldn't hide in their holes anymore.
I probably shouldn't have used oil because something else is likely better, but it definitely fixed the issue.
