8020D are great monitors. I’ve been considering replacing my HS7s with them as I think they’d work better in my room. Unless you’re working in a large room and/or at high volume 8020s are probably going to be just fine.
The Neumann KH120 are also highly rated, bit more expensive, no experience of them personally but would like to try some time.

I've had 8030As for 15 years, I only just recently upgraded to bigger Genelecs (timber framed house seems to soak up bass quite nicely). My use has been more general hifi and movies than nearfield monitoring, but I expect 8020s to be good tools if the low freq extension is enough for you. Even the 8030s are small speakers.
Sorry another boring monitor question. In addition to picking up some proper mixing headphones I also want to upgrade my monitor situation
I need clarity and not an enormous amount of sub bass (I make sparse, ambient, piano led music) from small monitors. However I've been burned by small monitors in the past. Are Genelec 8020s big enough to use as main monitors or am I on a hiding to nothing trying it?
