Does anyone here own a Kona Unit? Have you tried it with a 120 mm sus fork?

Yes. No.
There's definitely pictures out there of them with sus forks fitted,

I’ve seen some photos of it with a 120 mm fork and some were nice and others were terrible. What I wanna know is how it handles on the trail.

I crashed and broke two ribs last time I rode mine. Avoid.

But on a slightly more serious, but no more helpful note: I have one fitted with a 100mm Rockshox Recon Gold. Fine for my needs, but I couldn't really tell you anything about the handling as I'm a really shit MTB'er who doesn't really know the difference between good and bad handling

Just found this thread. I've got a 2006 redline monocog frame I'd like to build back up. Problem is I don't know what my best option is for wheels. It's 100/135 spacing, 29"/700c wheel size, both disc and canti mounts. I don't want to spend much so maybe my best option is used a hybrid wheelset and just deal with the narrow rim width?

custom wheelset an option?

doubt I could really afford it, and I can build wheels myself, just would prefer an off the shelf option.

29ers has been a thing for a while, you could probably find a nice, used wheel set with 100/135 spacing on here on eBay. Deffo go for disc brakes if that’s an option.

I'm planning on converting a 90s GT, and am going to go with an EBB, so will need hollowtech 2 cranks. I'm struggling to find anything that won't look out of place. Any suggestions for cranks (preferably not too thicc & chainring, or crankset that would fit the bill. The EBB is probably going to cost as much as the frame, so don't want to spend mad £££ on other bits.

Yep.

Cheers. Fork is Salsa Firestarter.

Middleburn RS8 X-type would look perfect but will cost twice as much again as the BB :-(

😬
Just get some cheap old Hollowtechs off ebay.
If you get some old Deore ones there shouldn't be any worry about boost spacing or anything and you should be able to pick up a set for around £20-30. Factor in buying a new bottom bracket but that's only about a tenner.
