  • It really is a good colour combo. Always like a pulsations scale too.

  • Cheaper car = more money for watches. I am fully on board with this credo (I drive a Škoda).

  • Any issues?

Need someone to work some voodoo on the bracelet link screw pins - one side was finger tight and they all just spin out, the other side one of them came out with persuasion but the others are all stuck fast.

  • Warm water? Hair dryer? Maybe they use loctite kind of thing like Omega?

  • Tried all that. Might try freezing it on the assumption that it's not all the same steel...

  • Definitely screws and not split pins?

  • Definitely screws. Half of them are out.

  • I'm liking this more than I should. I'm sure it will age and devalue badly.

  • Seiko lucky dip pricing strikes again

  • Maccas

  • Hirsch accent strap? How is it?

  • OK, my interest in a new watch means I may need to raise some cash. If anyone is interested in any of the following (all in excellent, if not nearly new condition) let me know:

    SKX007
    SKX013
    SARB017 Alpinist
    SRPE53 (the blue one)
    Casioak (stealth one)

  • Good spot.

It's chunkeh but comfy. Might try to find something less hench

  • Definitely one of the nicest subdial / date window designs I've seen on a new watch for a while.

  • Already! But it’s such an iconic design!

  • Cheaper car = more money for watches. I am fully on board with this credo (I drive a Škoda)

Or rather, don’t buy a new car, just stick to the same Ford Fiesta for the last 10 years.

It’s more environmentally friendly than buying a new car ironically enough.

  • I enjoyed it a lot. It was really nice while it lasted.

  • When people confidently say "but of course I'd get 20% off that from the AD" is this a) bollocks or b) generally available if you just ask?

    Thinking about Grand Seiko, specifically.

  • Depends on the model but generally, I’d say B. Always better to go there in person too (assuming you’re taking a trip to the GS boutique).

  • The GS boutique will give you nothing. There aren’t many other ADs in the southeast. Get Jura (who are an online AD) to price match Watches of Mayfair, who will generally offer 20% or thereabouts.

  • I got 20% off the last GS that I bought. That was because I'd bought another GS from that store previously (with a 10% discount).

Also noting that I paid for it rather than financed it which helped the discount.

  • There’s a thread on this on wus discussing discounts in the GS forum. It sounds like Seiko are trying reign in stores offering discounts.

  • I think it’s an industry trend for the higher tier brands, I know Clymer of Hoodwinkee famously said something along the lines of “no discounts anymore” when they became an AD of a number of brands.

  • The GS boutique will give you nothing. There aren’t many other ADs in the southeast. Get Jura (who are an online AD) to price match Watches of Mayfair, who will generally offer 20% or thereabouts.

What is the advantage of getting Jura to price-match and then purchasing from them? They're an official AD and WoM are not?

  • Correct. WOM are considered grey market I believe.
