Recent discussion re fakes/clones - I’d generally agree with the sentiment that if it’s not the actual watch then it’s a bit of an odd thing.
However, with for e.g. Rolex and their sports watches - a range of watches that people can’t actually buy - I can see the point of a super-clone.
Rolex seem to have turned their GMT into a way to drive sales to the Tudor GMT, an advertising campaign rather than an available item.
I’ve considered the Tudor GMT a number of times because of this, but I don’t really want one. But a super-clone of the Rolex GMT for under a third of the price of the Tudor? I admit, it’s got a certain appeal.

ooof - that looks great! Design also means no strap gap which is a brucey bonus. Thanks for the pic - much appreciated.

I had this. Sent it back. It's nice but didn't feel like a £155 watch. Plus they sent me a used watch - it seems from the reviews on the website I wasn't the only one...
EDIT - and it turns out Royal Mail lost the blasted thing when sent tracked return... what a total cluster**** this one has turned out to be...

Tried on a couple of Tudors just now, they didn't have the BB58 with steel bracelet so tried it on with the soft touch strap, really nice. Great size, fits well, just a lovely watch all round. Then I thought I'd try the Pelagos LHD for shits and giggles, I'd made my mind up from the get go that it's too big for me... It didn't feel too big, certainly felt like I could get used to it... and it's absolutely brilliant. Now I'm conflicted. Didn't want to go over £3k but that Pelagos FFS.
Stupid watches.

Since selling my gmt I’ve been dabbling in cheaper watches...
This is my favourite by far!

@ElGonzo - really can't go wrong with either, both awesome watches. Only wrong move here is to not listen to what you actually want. V easy for decisions to get drowned out with all the other noise. Go back and try them on a different time and if the Pelagos still makes you happier, then that's the one. You can pick up second hand if budget is issue - they're also not rare, so you've got a chance of picking them up VAT free at airports etc, although I dunno if airport discount is still a thing now with all the Brexit shenanigans (and lack of flying at the mo)?

I have an SKX009 (Pepsi style) on a shark mesh bracelet, is that any good to you?
I no longer wear it since getting another diver (Seiko Regatta).

Wise words, thank you. Will definitely take my time with it and as you said try them on again later along with a few others.
I've found the same with cars over the years, was worth taking my time and seeing/test driving more than once before pulling the trigger.
No idea about tax free right now, not that it'll come in handy any time soon as the only flight I've got got booked this year is out of Southend Airport! -

In entirely different news, I got sent the wrong strap by WatchGecko and they've said i can keep it - it's one of these in 20mm:

Edit: Gah, one day i'll work out how to link to a pic

Anybody ordered from Creation Watches recently? What’s the tax/duties situation at the mo?
-
• #55297
I ordered a few weeks ago, got lucky and didn't pay any tax, saved 40% on a SRPE51.

how do they compare height/depth wise?
I was after the Pelagos a while back and also felt was too big but wanted it because I wear my watch on my right wrist... ended up buying an old 60s Tudor Oyster Date in 34mm... then the following week the BB58 came out so went and tried it on but never held it up next to any of the other BBs... -

Best place for an early 000s Rolex to be serviced? Think it's been 10 years since last one. If they could also service an vintage Omega seamaster that would be great

I live in Portsmouth, the Robin Martin shop is here. Heard nothing but great things about them. You’d probably need to add postage on top though...
Kind of digging this.
1978 reissue, which goes some way to explain the bold Quartz across the dial.
Would need to see it IRL, to see if it as loud as the modern Timex I have.
