Do you mean the “SG” legend, or how it’s made?
I don’t know enough about SGs to know when they started / stopped using that American typewriter-ish font on the truss rod cover. That guitar is quite the mash up of different era SGs anyway…

Just messaged a dude selling a 2004 Standard on Gumtree. It looks a bit neglected so I'll be aiming able to negotiate a few quid off. Hopefully going to see it tomorrow.
there's also an absolute KILLER looking LP on there for £1500 and "open to offers"

The SG type as well as the cursive font they use on Juniors, Specials, Studios and a few others I've seen... Really naff IMVHO...
Should be plain black, single ply black on most, two ply is acceptable in some cases, obvs... 🙃

Andertons in the UK carry them but ETA is "months"… all the colours are sold out, the oxblood is my favourite by far tho.

Yeah it sticks out doesn't it. Like you say, easy fix… Oddly the oxblood one listed on Andertons has a plain cover.

Been preparing by playing War Pigs. How the fuck do you count the verses in War Pigs? When I'm air guitaring it seems to make sense, but as soon as I have a guitar in hand it always seems to catch me out...
Generals gathered in their mass-eeeeeeeeeeeees..... BUH BUHM!
fuck. missed it again.

I used to just wait for the drummer to go "tut tssup tut tut" ba dum haha

Tony’s timing is really unique… well, Bill Ward too. But Tony in particular often plays quite behind the beat, especially on things like the Paranoid riff. It’s part of what makes it sound so heavy IMO.
And yeah, their tempo & time changes are special. I remember Henry Rollins going on about how properly difficult the Iron Man changes are to pull off.

Our drummer used to think he was hilarious by dragging out the tssup until someone turned around and looked at him, especially on the hammer-on one.

Thanks for the links all y’all. Still on the look out. I’m after a Gibson SG standard in cherry.

Been bingeing on old Sabbath live footage. Such a unique groove. Loose and tight and swingy and driving... such a hard feel to grok.

they still don't know how to end a song...
Very nice but why do Gibson do such a terrible job with their truss rod covers these days? Disastrous! Simple enough to change at least...
