The car has had quite a life, after the original paint artist? paint job was disguised when the car was stolen then cleaned off, the car was then used by one of the Joplin entourage till being returned to a family member who restored the car back to the original silver. Then another family member had someone recreate the artists work on the car.
Quite the history is an understatement. I'm more thinking why would you return the car to the original colour not want to keep the paint work as original as possible, as the majority of the financial/music history is that unique Janis paintjob.
