• Sometimes eligibility can be quite tenuous!

I recently found out that I'm eligible for Austrian citizenship on the basis that my great grandfather and grandfather were forced to flee Austria when they refused to fight for the Nazis (they were both Austrian army officers). The argument is that if Austria hadn't collaborated, we'd still be Austrian.

Jana is eligible for a Polish passport because her great grandmother was a decorated war hero who smuggled Jews out of the Warsaw ghetto (and suffered the consequences).

Both Austria and Poland have citizenship programs for descendants of those who fought against the Nazis.

Feels like we are totally phoning it in.

Do we (UK) have a citizenship program for descendants of those who fought against the Nazis? Or fought with/for the UK?
