What time is it? Watches and horology

Possibly the more refined the watch the more its tailored to the bracelet.

That said, I think AP / PP / Royal Oaks / Nautili are fugly.

But I like tool watches.

Case in point.

This might be an horological tour de force...

To me it looks like a GCSE DT project using 5mm aluminium sheet.

They’ve moved the text to below 12 , screw down crown 150m ..
I can always send back , but at 39 mm it may be borderline for me

Any recommendations for a trusted watchmaker in East London that will fit a battery? I just built up the courage to open this and the caseback is actually attached to the movement/watch face. I’m not inclined to try and work out how to pry them apart.

I took it to Omega and they wanted about 80 quid and two weeks to do it, so they can fuck off. Is Alsal the only place? I’m not taking it to Timsons or anywhere like that because if anything happens to it I will kill every person on this train (10 points to anyone who gets that reference).

A little central but Watch Service UK on Fleet Street seem to have a good rep? Website says £40 for an Omega quartz battery replacement and should be a damn sight quicker than 2 weeks.

It definitely shouldn’t be.

Maybe the battery has leaked and corroded the case back?

Maybe. The stem goes through the caseback though, so it is retained in that way. I suspect some putty would help me here, but even if I had that, I would be reluctant to learn how to use it on this.

Really love the grey, class example of minimalism done perfectly. Also like that they tend to not be so popular but then that's because it's over 6K. Due out in September.

Thanks - it’s very sentimental but I enjoy wearing it whenever I can and is actually pretty versatile because it’s so minimal.

There is a place opposite which was less pleasant.

There's a vintage watch shop opposite too, dunno if it's open right now but it always had nice things in the window.

Just edited my prior post about that. Didn’t get a good vibe. Basically told me to come back another time because they were too busy for me to even tell them about what I wanted.

There is no crown - it is a push button. It’s marvellous discreet.

Yeah that place. I’m making a snap judgment, but I tend to do that when it concerns delicate and expensive things. There are a couple of places where I faced the same attitude in Burlington Arcade, although not the one with hundreds of Rolex in the window, they actually seemed alright.
