  • ah ! that's a proper ratio...

  • Looks nice. Race tyres?

Jealous of the bottle mounts (and tool).

  • Thanks. I had a Vigorelli before which I preferred, but the lack of bottle mounts on that mean the langster is a much more usable bike.

Yeah Vittoria Corsa 25c tyres. Tubeless, which I hope is a good move on the road.

  • Nice. A pal of mine just sold his and I was gutted to miss the sale. Glad you're enjoying it

  • Your mate wouldn't be Marcus from Haverhill, would he?

  • Ha. Thought it would be a long shot. But only the frameset and the bar tape remains from the bike as bought a couple or months ago, so thought it might be the same bike which you hadn't recognised.
I used to have a 2006 (first UK Langster with the skulls) and this is the 2017 version, the last one they imported. The 2017 fork is noticeably less harsh, but I can't feel any difference in the 2 frames for all the new tube shaping etc.
TL:DR if you're planning on buying a langster still, don't worry too much about the model year.

  • Help me out folks......what am i getting in a pair of hubs that costs £££ Royce Pauls Phill etc over say, a set of Surly new hubs. I'm wanting to upgrade from my Condor wheelset.

  • what am i getting

More likes on IG. That's all.

  • For a road fixed wheelset that went occasionally off road, will run up to a 43c.....what rims to go for? I need a breaking surface too.

Stick to h plus son ?

  • Have a look at kinlin xr31t.

  • First ride today on the fixed road langster

  • I'm contemplating a road fixed build, I'll need a frame/forks and some wheels. Currently looking at a Dolan FXE for the frameset. Is there anything else worth looking at that'll take half decent sized tyres and mudguards for not loads of money? The Brother Allday looks good but £500 for a frameset is out of my budget.

  • Spa Mono.

The 2020 Genesis Flyer? Maddison were giving the complete bikes away for £450 until recently.

I think the FXE will do the job great though.

  • I'd not seen the Spa Mono, looks decent but might be a bit pricey for me at the minute. I hadn't thought of the Genesis Flyer, definitely worth considering! It'll be a while before I actually buy anything so I might just set up a couple of eBay saved searches and see what's available in the next few months.

  • Also, you get some odd results if you Google Spa Mono...

  • There’s a really cheap All City Big Block in their size 55 on eBay at the moment. Crashed though so looks like it needs a new rim and there’s a decent dent in it. Currently at £5.50

  • The dent in that thing looks pretty considerable. I think I would want someone with more knowledge than I to have a little look at it if I bought it. Could be a bargain though

  • I'd probably take a punt if it was my size! That dent does look nasty though.

  • Yeah I’d worry what else was wrong if the crash has damaged both the top tube and dinged a rim but they’re nice frames and it might be worth the gamble if the price stayed low

  • Bespoke head-badge design sorted.

  • Dents are generally okay when it comes to steel frames. But that dent on the AC is a bad one, the tube/dent has creases which is a bad sign. Would avoid unless you plan on getting the frame repaired.

  • has creases

I'd worry about that if it was a bend. On a simple dent, it's less of a problem.

  • the crash has damaged both the top tube and dinged a rim

I'm guessing not in that order. Probably hit pothole, dinged rim, fell off, tube hit something on the way down. The rim damage is terminal for the rim, but not enough to make me concerned about what else the initial impact did.
