OT: G&L L2500 Tribute active 5-string bass

  • Regrettably, this is up for grabs.

    It's a G&L Tribute L2500 5-string in the 'blueburst' finish.

Swamp ash body (the finish really brings out the grain), with a Maple neck and fingerboard. Pretty nicely made; all the fretwork is clean and even, the neck pocket is cleaner and tighter than some more expensive instruments I've owned.

It benefits from all the electronics from the USA-made version, so sounds very similar. It's fat, punchy, tight, and lively, with more than a touch of MM Stingray about it. Currently strung through the bridge but can be strung thru-body too. Recent Rotosound stainless strings.

Plays real nice. I gigged with it a couple of times, but other than that it's had (occasional) home use; hence the sale, I suppose. It's in excellent condition throughout; a tiny bit of pick/finger marks under the strings on the body, to be expected I guess.

Asking £400. I also have a good quality hardcase that it's lived in which I could chuck in for another £50.

Collection from Camberwell, SE5 is best. Don't mind posting, but it's a weighty thing and I'd insist on insuring it.

  • Oh shnap, this is nice, did it sell in the end?
(Not that I can afford it right now, just asking)

  • It's long gone, unfortunately. I miss it dearly.
