Only just caught up after a badly timed call from hmrc...
Dan Martin looks great! I think the echelon uphill made it for me on that stage.
I think I’ve fallen in love with Ganna. The man is an absolute monster

The giro will probably end up with 4 time trials the way he’s going!

Zero mention of the bumper car incident in Bike Exchanges wrap up video today
-
• #33830
What bumper car incident? Nothing to see here folks, move along.
-
• #33831
It might pop up in the deTour podcast, Matt White seems to feature most days.

Listening to The Cycling Podcast now, they contacted Matt White who said he can't speak about the incident. They reckon they are appealing
-
• #33833
I mean if this was the best guy for the job I’m not sure how kicking him off the race/ out the car helps.
-
• #33834
Yeah kick the whole team out
-
• #33835
Have the race/ director side of things issued and apology or taken any action?
-
• #33836
Wonder of don lefevre is at their throats
-
• #33837
Obviously terrible that it happened but you can see how it did. Perfect storm: handing off between cars, driving side by side, rider suddenly slowing down…
This incident is less of an issue than the road furniture that caused Pope Landa’s crash IMO.
I’d ban handing off between cars as that is an unnecessary distraction that could happen at the end of the stage.

His lawyers will be.
-
• #33839
And then the case will be thrown out because he'll submit evidence taken from Cycling.tiz
-

Not yet listened to this, could be bait.
Aren't there cars with tech to stop this kind of collision? Obviously better if the fleshy part behind the wheel slows down but worth considering.

Yeah, although could imagine they also might need to turn it off due to circumstance they might need to drive in.
-
• #33842
Yeah they have that turned off, wasn't there a race a few years ago where a big pile up was caused by someone going close to the back of the lead car during the neutral start and it auto-stopped.

Love how Horner pronounces Bettiol's name in the most recent video

This one was madness. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJbHd9ygDag

That was horrific. Still remember those awful images of the rider tangled in the barbed wire fence.

Interested to see how the sprinters’ teams approach the finish today.
Will they lead out to the bottom of the climb or try and keep it together for the last km after the ramp?
Or will be a powerhouse pursuit type rider i.e. Ganna who can get on top of a big gear after the climb who rides away and wins?

26 whole metres of climbing with a max of 12%? Depending on how the steep bits realate to corners, I can't see that bothering most top level sprinters
-
• #33848
The climb is right after a sharp corner, if you don't manage to carry your speed through it it might be a serious hurdle.

I’m not suggesting anybody will get dropped, just that it’ll kill the momentum you normally associate with a lead out.

Ah yeah that makes sense. So will suit someone that can think on their feet rather than rely on a train? Sagan?
Yeah, I saw the replay. They're both idiots, but I guess it's a bit hard to throw the race director off the race.
