Hopefully heading up to Glasgow on the train next Saturday & setting off on this with my partner:
https://www.strava.com/routes/2819967707524180120Taking a tent & planning to wild camp half the time & have hotels booked for the other nights. All with free cancellation as you can never can tell with the weather - might have to sack the entire trip off if there's not an improvement in the forecast :(

Where are you planning to wild camp? It's banned in some places on the route you've got there, mainly around the Trossachs but possibly elsewhere.
-
• #458
I'd heard of that & consulted a map on the banned areas the other day & it didn't look too restrictive. Do need to properly cross-reference with the route though & figure out where we'll be wanting to pitch up.

I think that as long as you keep away from lochsides in certain areas you'll be fine. Usually I'd say you'll likely not be bothered by any enforcement, but with restrictions lifting they may be out checking. They've had to go and paint double yellows in some places to stop idiots parking up all the roads because the car park is full. The area around the Dukes Pass, Loch Achry/Loch Venechar is pretty heavy with restrictions that go further away from the shore too.

Weather forecast is a bit all over the place.
Across an odd temp range too. Making me procrastinate on what to take. -
• #469
I am leaving it all to the last minute because of this (and lazyness)
-
• #470
My main sticking point is SS with arm warmers or LS. Seems unlikely it’ll get to SS temps and wearing arm warmers all day isn’t the most comfortable…
What are your deliberations? -

fucked off with the weather up here right now for this exact reason - so variable from hour to hour and so annoying

I have not kept track of temperatures yet, but I was going to be arm/leg warmers as much as possible. Can always wear them on top of the sleeves for comfort, I think the style gods will allow that if your touring

I'm up to Scotland tonight on the sleeper for a 5 day recce (2 in Scotland, 3 in England). I have gone 2 x shorts, 1 long top and then 1 short sleeve top, arm warmers, gilet, shake dry, short sleeve base layer and SPD sandals for the win.
