• Interesting, thanks. Hadn't crossed my mind that there would be test package deals!

There's only one thing that doesn't sit right with me about these new travel rules. Its nothing to do with the fact that the requirements for Amber countries are so onerous. I'm more amazed that the government are happy to waive quarantine and testing for the green countries! Surely all international travel should have a test to release quarantine attached? By not doing so, they sure are putting a lot of faith in people's honesty and the effectiveness of testing and genomic testing in other countries.

Its not like the UK was particularly quick to identify the new variant that came out of Spain last summer...

  • I get you, I’m focussed on the rules as I’m in HK looking to travel back at some point to piss off Norths by turning up at the pub. HK has had no local transmission for a few days and yet is still amber. There are worse places on green who would pose a slight risk to you.

I’d say someone coming from here as a fully vaccinated traveller is zero risk given the controls we have. We sequence every case that happens in the community to identify the source of transmission but thats one or two a week. All the close contacts get shipped off to a quarantine camp for food poisoning unless they managed to have a breakdown at the thought of quarantine and get themselves sectioned (lucky bastards). #notkidding

Not sure if they also sequence the handful of cases that crop up daily in the 21 day hotel quarantine for new arrivals but they have the lab capability so i would assume so.
