  • Chicken curry recipe recommendations please.

  • This chickpea curry from Matthew Kenney's book plantlab has become a staple for us. Dead simple and absolutely brilliant. 2 tsp vadouvan, 1 tsp garam masala, 1 onion, 2 kaffir lime leaves, 1 stalk lemongrass, 1 inch grated ginger, 1 inch galangal, 2 cups of coconut milk, 2 cups of chickpeas.

The naan is baked in the Ooni based on a Meera Sodha recipe (click the first link as a direct link leads to a paywall), as much as I hate to say it I might prefer the Jamie Oliver recipe.

    Not great, not terrible.

  • (Too thick, messy, etc - I've got more batter so I'll see if it's still good tonight and try again).

  • I'm having those Meera Sodha Cauli Cheese and chilli Rotis tonight I think. So good. Cold leftovers are epic win as well.

  • Looks ace, i cant advice you as you will have to experiment but play with urad daal and rice ratio; i go 60/40.

Also pan has to be hot but not mega hot and you add oil after you pour the mix; around edges.

  • Salted chocolate buckwheat cookies

Bit weird doing them using a piping bag, but pretty good.

  • I had some leftover cauliflower and some broccoli on the turn and made the mix but but it in dosas with leftover dosa mix.

    Recommended!

  • (This dosa looks particularly bad or actually like an idli but it's unrepresentative, I had got marginally better by then).

  • Also, I made some Felicity Cloake perfect chocolate biscuits for our neighbours, and I took this picture because the dough looked like a giant turd:

  • Something sinister looking about the tin of beans here.

  • Rolled it in beanz after the pic yeh?

  • Just took collection of 2kg of beef short ribs from my BiL’s local butcher out in penge/anerley.
Looking forward to slow cooking some of it.
Wondering if I need to trim some of the fat, or leave as is..

  • The fat will render. Just skim it if there's too much.

    Also, want.

  • I would leave the fat. Fat is flavour.

  • Hot guts sausage
    Horseradish
    Cornichon
    Ketchup

Had two more and now full up.

  • Need to make a couple of dishes for a garden picnic thing on Monday. Needs to travel well. Vegetarian.

If I was hosting it'd be something that could be finished and served quickly but not sure I'll have that luxury. Could handle mise en place at home and then dress/mix etc on site but that's probably about the length of it. Any suggestions before I whack out the Ghayour?

  • Pitas or Corn chips plus?
    Baba Ganoush
    Mole sauce
    Salsa Fresca
    Hummus
    Fresh veg

  • I went to a barbecue the other day and had a sort of green bean salad/curry with chunks of coconut-coated roasted tofu in it. I think it might have been initially served warm but my god it was nice cold. Thought about it daily since. I will try and find a recipe from the host.

  • Can anyone recommend a good place for lunch in Chelmsford please? Needs to be walking distance from the station.

  • Som Tam salad would ship well
    Potato Salad
Panzanella (keep the bread separate and combine at the picnic)
Could do a nice grilled asparagus and hazelnut salad
    Kimchi pancakes

  • This looks very interesting. Thanks for digging out the Recipie. 👍

  • sort of green bean salad/curry with chunks of coconut-coated roasted tofu

Sounds ace. Would appreciate a recipe if you find it?
