The shifters definitely had been crashed so it was a guess as to how long they’d last. Put the tripster back together until the mech arrives and am “working on a solution” for the broken one with a beer in the sun

So I tried the app for the first time today and when I first went to do the rear derailleur maintenance it was in the +3 micro shift position. After a bit of fine tuning it’s ended up in -11 and this has solved the shifting problem. It now happily moves up into the large cog and with the limit screw set properly no longer throws the chain in the smallest. Weird perhaps the position of the derailleur hanger is just slightly outboard on this bike? Anyway thanks for the advice!

This is why I bought a RD straightening tool - it's the first thing to check to make sure all your subsequent adjustments aren't on the piss because something got bent. Reminds me I need to check mine again after I dropped the bike.

Interesting the university bike workshop has one so I might give it a check anyway but I figured the fact that I had just replaced the derailleur hanger itself would mean that it was likely straight.

So you RD might've been adjusted for a slightly bent one or maybe there's a slight difference in position with the new one bolted down. I know my Tripster hanger has scope for some movement so you need to be careful when bolting it down (and I need to stop destroying RDs)

What’s the sort of 90 degree rubber thing in the front mech packaging for? Just for avoiding sharp bends in the cable or also protecting it? How do I fit it?

Dura ace R9170 Right hand - in stock.
You're welcome.

Goes over the cable entry to the front mech I think. That’s where I shoved it anyway

Thanks. Didn't come with the last R8050 front mech I bought but it's a smart idea.

Ha! I found this in the box when I packed it up to sell and wondered what it was for.
Front derailleurs.. those were the days 🤣

If anyone needs spare mounting "hardware" for their EW-RS910 bar-end junction box, or just want something a little less bulky, drop me a message. They come at the price of a beer/postage/forum donation. Sooner or later I'll buy some black PLA, but these can also be spray painted.
I might make the attaching thingies even skinnier, I'll experiment with it in the next week or so.
Didnt have an unwrapped handlebar at hand, but those TT extensions match the dimensions of a bar end.

This seems like a very good deal if you buy the shifters separately.

Dafuq are they doing with their pricing?
-
• #4690
Dafuq?
Retail-packaged pair vs. OEM singles?
-
• #4691
Yeah, that makes sense. Guess the singles will be from their spares dept. and are clearly (in this case) priced differently. Hmm, what to choose - shiny cardboard box or money in your pocket?

What do I need to update the firmware on my 6770 (10speed) di2 setup to work with a pair of R8050 shifters?
-
• #4693
Ahhh I need exactly this as I've lost the old one, amazing!
PM coming

• #4694
External or internal battery?
-
• #4695
External
Edit: thou I do have a spare internal battery I could use temporarily if that's easier
-
• #4696
In that case, assuming you're using an old style Junction A, you'll need an SM-PCE1 adaptor. And a Windows computer with a USB port.

I'm setting up my R8050 Di2 on my new frame and the rear mech is only making 10 shifts not 11. Won't go into the 11T. The H limit screw is out so that it's not stopping the mech at all. It's almost like the whole mech is mounted two far inboard, but it's a brand new frame and mech hanger.
Any thoughts? The etube app (ipad) says the micro adjustment is set at 0.

11 speeds mean 10 shifts.

Mind blown!

I'll stick the chain on and see what happens
I'd assume it either had a knock or that someone installed it that doesn't know how the newer FD backplate screw stuff works or maybe it was installed too low and forced against the chainrings too much, but even when it can't move the servo will quit trying.
