I do have the Burgtec bars (with Burgtec "Greg Minnaar" grips), securely leaning in a corner of my spare bedroom. Happy to bang them in the post to you.
I've got a training day at FoD coming up this weekend and I think I'm going to leave the current brakes on ahead of that, then swap to the new ones next week.
Once the Raceline brakes are on I'll be sending the old MT7's to Magura for a full inspection (and, based on the experience of others, likely replacement).

I'm now completely sold.

At long last!
I'm still ready to pounce if or when you want to sell them.
I'm about to install a 220mm rotor on the rear of my Nomad in an attempt to reduce arm pump while riding dh. -

Weather is shit here on Saturday.

The rolling resistance is hard to ignore but they really do give you confidence when cornering.

These are very good, so far at least!

Pro Ride MTB Flow course yesterday at FoD - my god was it wet. Very interesting though, I need to get a lot lower over the bike when in amongst it, as it were. I also have a habit of coming forward on the bike when cornering on the flat so I can lean the bike right the way over, which I've got to stop - which is difficult for me as it means I can't lean the bike as much as I want to (saddle hits the inside of my leg, moving forward means it doesn't).
I'm going to head to Swinley shortly I think to have a ride in the sun.

Third and fourth spin for the exciting noise.

I've never been a fan of the tiny bearings that go into a lot of flat pedals, on my bmx it's V8's or bigger (bearings/bushings) every time. This usually means a cheaper/heavier pedal that will rattle as the bearings go, but they just last.
What pedals are these?

Saying that my MTB has the old style DX pedals, for nostalgia more than anything, but they probably have tiny bearings as well 🤷🏽♂️

DMR Vault. TBH, after my experience of DMR customer service my immediate reaction was to throw these pedals in the bin, but new pedals are rather more than the £22 that a service kit costs from Wiggle, so I got that instead.

Looking at Strave I've killed those DMR pedals in 800km/one winter.

Looking at some info online, the outer bearing is marginally bigger on those Vaults than the tiny ones I was complaining about. But still quite tiny, wouldn't be surprised if I had to change them once or twice a year. Can't offer a better alternative without some research. The flat pedal thread is a bit dead recently but someone there might be more useful. I can't fault my current bmx pedals but they're very bmx (heavy, plastic, bushings mean they don't spin very freely)

I've got some Nukeproof Sam Hill's on the jump bike after Furious Tiles recommended them, and they're very grippy and seem nicely made - but they're quite a lot more £ than a rebuild kit for the DMR's.
I'll see how long a rebuilt set last, then make a decision. By far the most borked is the left, which is my rear foot - and therefore the one that gets drenched whenever I got through a puddle, so it's not surprising that it's bearings have failed. I'm guessing they're not particularly well sealed, but will see I guess when the rebuild kit arrives.
I also need to replace the bearings in my lower rocker arm on the 295 (I replaced all the top ones a little while ago, but didn't do the bottom ones then because Lazy), after which I'll try to avoid riding it in the rain ever again.

Dunno if you saw some random roadie wave at you by Horniman. That was me

Fenella saw you and commented, I'm afraid I missed you.

all weather 800km between pedal re-builds isn't too bad - you could probably get longer from them by replenishing the grease at 400km or after very wet rides / pressure washing (don't pressure wash!)
-
• #4269
don't pressure wash!
haha pedals go fast vrrrrrrrr
-
• #4270
I've had a similar experience with my Vaults. Probably with less mileage and less mud/slop too. And no pressure washing.

I just wrote a long email to the Magura service centre ahead of them receiving my MT7's, I'd sort-of forgotten how miserable an experience I've had of the rear brake. Hopefully they'll say "ah yes, all of run 5674XB1 were fucked due to [whatevs], sorry about that, we'll send you some new ones".

Are there any flat pedals with grease ports similar to Speedplays? That would be neat.
-
• #4273
DMR V8 for the inner section. Still need to pop the plastic cap off for the bearings at the outermost section of the axle.
-
• #4274
That's funny as I have a set on the Oz hardtail. I don't think I've ever serviced them. Then again maybe mine are so old they don't have the port?

Here's what Trek has to say on the fully floating suspension design used on my RC295.
Neil, do you still have the burgtec bars?
I might take them after all.
But more importantly have you got the new mt7's installed yet and do they work??
