I’m pretty diehard vintage with watches and this is a nice twist on the 62MAS. As @Regal said, lume is a bit unevenly applied and mine even with the hi-beat 8L55 movement runs an incredibly consistent +6 seconds per day which is poor considering what it could do with some fettling. The colour, bezel, case and strap are all on point, price is a pisstake.

Bad points aside after handling the SLA017 I knew it was the one but it took me many months of indecision before the fear of missing out made me cough up. Other than a few cheap things this was my first box-fresh watch and I have no regrets, if I had to slim my collection to three, this is in.

@edscoble Is that BB58 yours? If so, congratulations!

  • Misses this, new watch day Ed? Nicely done!

  • Whilst on the topic of expensive seikos has anyone seen in the flesh the sla035? I've seen one for not a terrible price (£1820) and am thinking about it but worried about how thick it is

  • I’ve not seen the black-finish 035 specifically but the MM300 is thick and heavy. @PawG had (has?) one, he can corroborate. The latest 200m Prospex ones are a much better size for most people.

  • @PawG had (has?) one

    😂

  • Love love love love it.

Not too shiny, not too vintage, surprisingly small, comfortable bracelet, a real nice soft tones of muted blue, etc.

Half tempted to put a green/yellow MN strap on it, got an NDC one.

  • Yikes, it was super accurate a couple weeks ago.

  • @ChainBreaker what’s funny 😂

Yeah, I had the SLA023 for a couple of weeks. I absolutely love the look but it literally feels like a jacuzzi on the wrist. Super deep and heavy. Doesn’t look bad because of short lugs but yeah... doesn’t exactly disappear under the cuff. Not that it’s made for it anyway.
The SPB187 scratched that itch for me and is great fun wearing it.

  • Nice Tudor Ed. Shame about the Seiko, reckon a warranty fix might be on the cards, though it’s probably just magnetised.

  • Nice choice!
Agree with you on all points and coming from cheaper divers, it’s all very crisp (design, finishing, bezel action) which is a treat.

  • though it’s probably just magnetised.

Possibly, I do have a powerful magnet that rated for 23kg at work for internally routing cables in the frames and fork.

I never put it near it. But would be surprised if that does have an effect.

  • Bezel action a little harder to grab but the feedback is spot on especially at 12 o clock where it click in place perfectly.

  • Not sure you should be in the workshop with your sensitive watches Ed. Just saying 😂

  • It’s a Seiko! Like they’re not exactly delicate.

  • There’s a free app called Lepsi that uses a phones’ internal magnetic sensor which should at least give you a steer if it’s magnetised...

  • Unless it's antimagnetic, manuals /autos should be kept away from magnetics.

  • Who knew working in a bike workshop required a Rolex milgauss!

  • Or a railmaster

  • Lots of stories online of the spb143 getting magnetised from laptops etc . Seems susceptible to it. Lots of people say they fix it with eBay demagnetisers

  • Fairly sure there a few on here with a demagnetiser that can back up the #WorldsFriendliestForum award

  • Lots of stories online of the spb143 getting magnetised from laptops etc.

I did just got a fairly powerful laptop recently (solid state drive tho).

  • Or it could be the massive magnet at work??? Literally a big ass magnet 😂😂😂

  • Laptop speakers are sometimes the cause of magnetised watches...

  • Don’t you all work from home nowadays??

  • @inchpincher with those reference, accuracy is the only point Seiko is missing IMO, hard to understand knowing that their movement can do much better..

Sounds weird from a Japanese company, when a BB58 is running in COSC at lower price..

@edscoble such a good watch, had to sell mine when this big guy came in, but will buy one again ASAP
