110bcd triple, silver cranks

  • As above in any length. Will probably need posting unless you happen to be within a 20 minute drive of Brighton

  • If you mean a 5 arm 110mm BCD, AFAIK Shimano didn't make one for HTII, only 130mm, 4 arm 110mm you're looking at Tiagra 4703 and Sora R3030 only for HTII triple and neither come in silver, only black or grey and both limited to a 30T smallest inner ring.
    HTH

  • If you want the full shiny triple and HT, you will need to find a Tiagra FC-4603. As @Mr_Bump says above, the main rings are 130 mm BCD. It's a very nice chainset as most owners know...tho not so nice as the FC-7803.

An alternative is the Sugino XD-2 triple from Spa Cycles, a stone bargain but from a different era, requiring a square-taper bb.

    Good luck with your search!

  • The 105 5703 also came in silver but again is 130mm, you could run 50/38/24 as a balanced set up to give you a nice low without needing a dinner plate cassette. I run a 50/39/24 on a Miche Evo and 48/36/23 on the XD-2. The matching Stronglight BBs are inexpensive but decent quality.

  • AFAIK Shimano didn't make one for HTII

This was what i was worried about. I currently have 2x 110 cranks with a nice 44t TA chainring i was hoping to keep but with a 34t inner. Ideally i want a chainguard outer, 44t middle and 30t inner. Selling the chainring and moving to square taper might have to be the move. Cheers all!

  • Just noticed: Spa Cycles still have stock of FC-5703, which IS HT, but available only in black: https://spacycles.co.uk/m8b0s109p2901/SHIMANO-105-FC-5703-50-39-30-Triple-Chainset-%2810spd%29

  • Get a nice square taper one

  • +1 for that. That Shimano set is no doubt effective but the look is pretty brutal

  • The Spa Cycles ones are great value... I think I just bought the last 170mm silver one, sorry about that! If you get desperate you can always get a black one and strip the ano with oven cleaner - it's surprisingly easy.

  • Yeah think i'm gonna pull the trigger on the spa triple. They also do a cheap silver bashguard.
@.gaz. does it come with any bolts at all or do I need to buy those seperately? Also for some strange reason the Spa website doesnt let me add a BB and the cranks in the same basket...?

  • Got a set in 170mm, silver, pretty good condition, if needed

  • No bolts iirc (I used the ones from the broken cranks I was replacing).
BB for those cranks is 110mm long. Apparently Shimano UN55 (also sold by Spa) is extremely difficult to break and worth the extra money.

Not sure why you wouldn't be able to add things to your basket... can't help with that I'm afraid!

  • I was able to get away with a 107 mm UN55 — the 28T granny overhangs the bracket shell, but that's all right. The chainline is a bit better on the big ring, I found.

  • How much? These the spa/sugino triple?

  • Good to know. Also since when were UN55s 20 quid? In my head they were <10 a pop

  • Yes, £12 plus £3 postage.

    PM me if keen.

  • cranks have been sourced courtesy of @sb88

anyone got a un55/un300 british thread going spare? this is for a lockup bike so not fussed if its a bit old. also need a silver 44t/110bcd sized bashguard/chainguard

  • I think I may have a bashguard of that spec, proper heavy-duty as I recall. And maybe a suitable Shimano bb, what length you looking for?

  • if you could measure the bashguard that would be great! spa website says 113 but you said you got it to work with a 107? what length you got spare?

  • Soz been out all day. I'll look into this tomo.

  • If all fails, I have a Shimano FC-A550 triple chainset & matching BB.

    Just like this
