Cycling for local wildlife (JOGLE)

Posted on
  • My girlfriend and I are riding from John O'Groats to Land's End this July. We wanted to do it for a while now, but holidays usually meant going abroad. Now, because of Covid, we've decided that it's finally time to do it.

And while we're at it, we're trying to raise some money for a local charity (if you can, please consider donating of course - https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/pawel-glita).

I was wondering if anyone has done it this way (I understand the usual way is the other way around but for us that wouldn't make sense logistically)? Got any tips, routes, b&b recommendations? Please do let me know. I already decided we'll be doing the more hilly version to spice things up a bit...

Oh, and we even have a poster now.

  • Great stuff and good luck

  • Thank you!

  • Search the forum for "lejog" and you might turn up some tours that have useful info.
Also there's a Cycle Touring thread and crazyguyonabike website would have info.
Lejog is so popular there's bound to be books and or blogs etc for people going the "wrong" way.

  • Thanks, will check those out! We wanted to do the right way, but logistically it just doesn’t make sense for us. Also hoping to ride back to Portsmouth from Land’s End, see how that goes.

  • Mersey ferry is only commute service from woodside if you want to cross the mersey .

  • Cheers! I’ll look into it.

  • All packed. Whole day on the train tomorrow and a another 4h on Saturday. We should be on the road by midday. I’ve connected my Strava to the JustGiving page, so go there for daily updates.
If anyone fancies joining us for a few miles along the way - feel free to do so. Probably best to PM me for the full route. Thanks!

    P.S.
If I don’t post here in a couple of weeks, I probably got killed by some idiot in a car not paying attention.

  • And done.
    12 days, 1,635km, 17242m of elevation. What a ride it’s been…
Thank you to everyone who donated 🙏

  • Bravo! Post pics!

  • If you go to the JustGiving page - the pictures are there along with all the rides one by one 👍
