• Forks are very light for Cro-Mo unicrown with a long steerer.

Frame weighs 2.45Kg, made from butted Tange Prestige, which only goes to show how spooky-light Ti tubing can be; my Marin Team Ti in almost exactly the same size weighs 1520g.

Not that any of that matters on this build, but cute to compare before it gets built up.

  • Looks beautiful, where abouts did you get it chased? Thinking of getting my rockhopper neatened up!

  • Had it done by Hackney Peddler as they could do it there and then; everywhere else had a weeks-long queue.

  • That’s good to know!!

  • Finally found time to work on this again.

Chamfered and cleaned up the freshly-faced head tube with a file, ready for headset. Filled the inside of all the tubes with Dinitrol, should help keep rust at bay.

Tracked down a pair of rare CNC brake boosters for the Magura HS33s; these will be getting stripped and re-anodised silver.

  • Very smart. The tan walls suit the colours. Maxxis knobblies for mud, tan walls for town.

  • Thanks! Gonna try a pair of all-black Billy Bonkers, just got a feeling that tan walls on this is a step too far...

  • Heads-up for any Magura hydro rim brake owners:

These alloy clamp washers are a revelation. The stock plastic ones get crimped instantly, making it impossible to accurately adjust for pad wear/alignment after setting the first time. These don’t deform at all.

  • Absolute belter with those knobblies on, this going to be 👌🏼

  • I bloody love gumwalls, but I think the black tyres really make the pale grey of frame and saddle really pop, whereas the gumwalls makes it all look a bit washed out. But that may just be the light in the pictures
