I'm sure we can all agree that Trans rights should be equitable, but at this time, there's just not the political capital in really talking about that message. I'm sure Kier is progressive enough to have the right feels on this.
Buy yeah, like the above I'm a bloke so my view about this stuff is myopic at best.

Seems like a dick move, unless there's something we don't know.
Even if it was justified, surely better to let the dust settle, make clear the issues and do whatever needs to be done calmly / after some reflection.

So Starmer is taking responsibility and carrying the can by sacking someone else?
-
• #1405
I guess he's been reading Sun Tzu overnight.
-
• #1406
Sacking a prominent working-class northern woman is sure to ward off the criticism of Labour being too London-centric and losing touch with the voters.

• #1407
Doesn't look great does it. Although the stories are pretty all over the place at the moment so am waiting to pass judgment

unbelievable to me that angela rayner has caught fleas...

What is he doing?
https://twitter.com/REWearmouth/status/1391111269999169536Another Labour source confirms a reshuffle IS ongoing, however.
It sounds like this is how it may shape up ...
Demotions: Anneliese Dodds, Lisa Nandy, Jon Ashworth and Nick Brown
Promotions: Wes Streeting, Rachel Reeves, Jess Phillips, Sarah Jones and Steve Reed
Thought Jon Ashworth has been pretty good through out the pandemic as well as Nandy, Dodds and Rayner

Such a broad church heβs building here...
Still, I guess by promoting a bunch of no talent muppets with no ideas, Starmer will at least look good by comparison?

For most people he's switching people they've not heard of for people they've not heard of.
It may make some feel he's doing something but I imagine most won't care one way or the other.

• #1416
Shame about Jon Ashworth, I thought he's been doing ok.
Jess Phillips though.

Khan wins on second preference.

• #1421
Bailey really wasnβt that far behind. What on Earth is happening.
-
• #1422
I mean, the split on the second vote was only ~2% out on 2016 results when he ran against Zac the Lad
-
• #1423
Non party Left supporters switching votes to Green and Khan as second preference? I know I hovered over that option.
-
• #1424
Yeah but the optics of these two candidates is vastly different.

Khan's campaign was awful. Barely anything on policy and what he plans to do, most of his messaging seemed to be about it being a two horse race so vote Khan so you don't get Bailey.
The Greens got 200k votes, which are votes Khan should be winning but he's still pushing for the Silvertown tunnel, which will be an environmental disaster for those communities either side of the Thames in the east.
In my opinion he's been disappointing as mayor, he talks about the right things but too often his word are not backed up by action. From a cycling perspective, where's the network of protected cycling routes that London needs? He should be at the forefront of that, but instead he talks about increasing walking and cycling a lot, without backing it up with money.
