The last two times I’ve bought new rings this size I had to buy singles, used SPA cycles.
-
• #3028
Ah! How much roughly do you anticipate them working out at?
-

No idea yet, still very early days. They won't be anywhere near as cheap as far-Eastern commodity bits though...
Also looking to get nice hex skewers in equally lurid ano colours made, with serrated steel collars to prevent slipping when used with disc brakes.
-
• #3030
I had some of those Halo hex skewers that you can get in various colours. I found them a bit hard to tighten without it slipping in the dropouts though.
-
• #3031
Yeah, the Halo skewers aren't bad as far as all-alloy ends go, but they're still soft enough to slip and run the risk of stripping the inner thread if tightened sufficiently to prevent axle shifting with a disc brake at the front.
The skewers I'm hoping to have made will have a steel insert forming a serrated collar to grip the dropout, and a steel threadsert so they'll take more torque than alloy.

I don't think I knew there was a full suspension downhill version of my Rudy Project frame. It's completely bonkers! Stumbled across this earlier: https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/rudy-project-no-shades.272489/
Edit: actually, looks like there were loads of them made by Verlicchi for various brands: https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/italian-stallion-verlicchi-dh.2695/

That's awesome. I love the yellow accents. Are those forks 1" threadless or is it an adaptor? And what bars are those?
-
• #3040
Thanks ! There aren’t any adaptators, fork is 1 threadless, the same for the stem. This is a velo orange klunker bar.

Anyone want this? It's a 15" Trek 820 in a nice green. Wheels are generic quando hubs with screw-on 7-speed freewheel.
The bad:
- Seatpost is seized
Needs:
- Rear wheel bearing repacking
- New BB, it spins but is loose. Needs replacing sometime
- New brake levers
- A seat post binder bolt
- Recabling
- A really good clean, service and lube
- A new saddle or lots of gaffer tape
The good:
- Chain showing less than 0.75% wear
- Brake blocks have heaps of life
- Tyres (Specialized Hemisphere) seem sound and take air
- Rims are in good nick
- Wellgo pedals spin fine
I'd love to build this up as a kids bike, but I just don't have the time right now to get into a refurb. It was a pavement freebie so free to a good home, although I wouldn't mind a beer for the time I took freeing up the stem.
Pickup from SW London. Can't be ridden away as the brakes are non-functional.

That's awesome! Well played (complementary colour) purple seatpost clamp.

That was a pretty legendary frame. The iron horse branded version was the one on which Dave Cullinan did a big jump between 2 cable cars and won a worlds in the early 90s (1992 mayhap)

Enjoying seeing this being built on RetroBike! Thanks for sharing the love on here too! :) Amazing attention to detail going on with this build.

Anyone using Gravel King 26”x2.10 tyres?
If so, could you please measure their actual inflated width?
I’ve just put on a set of Billy Bonkers that are allegedly 54mm, only for them to come up barely 50mm...

Judging by the jo Burt-ism I’m guessing it’s a Zinn
-
• #3050
It's a Zinn Centaur, being transformed into a tribute of the long lost Jo Burt Zinn that was featured in the mbuk mint sauce/Jo Burt interview.
Funny you should ask, I noticed the same lack of options and am looking into having some made up by a CNC house in 3DV/turquoise etc with a view to selling enough to break even...
