  • This is what led my to my Totem's. They take up less space than a pair of stands+speakers and the freq response goes much, much lower.

    Because stand-mounted speakers on decent stands sound better than compact floor-standers.

    Compare the Kef R3 stand-mounts vs Kef R5 floor standing speakers. The R3 has a 6.5" driver, the R5 has a pair of 5" drivers. The R5 will go a bit louder except you lose bass frequencies, whereas the R3 will be better balanced and go down to lower frequencies more comfortably.

    IMHO stand-mounts also look a LOT better in most living rooms, which let's face it is where they're going to live for most of us
