The one we took out was > 20 years old
One of the guys that fixed our boiler was of the opinion that from a maintenance and longevity POV older boilers were better.
I wonder if part of that is that the shit ones and poorly made ones have already gone. But in any event his point was that you need a lot of energy savings to negate the cost of a new one.

The older ones aren't too fussy, it might just keep going on forever. The one we took out was > 20 years old, it was still running despite having been condemned at some point by someone.
