Is that an Extralite Hyperstem?

I want to put my DeRosa on a diet and see if I can improve the handling.

idd it is. Not sure it will improve any handling by removing some grams from the stem but it looks good and is very light. Never had a problem with them either other than they are a bit tight to install (but are meant to be). Have them on 4 bikes now.

It's not just the stem. Stem, bars and seat post are all big lumps of metal. Could shed maybe 350g by changing all of them.
