My impression is that the older system is/was better tbh. No special tools, "just works".
But maybe post-recall/warranty I'll feel more love for the new system.
My LBS doesn't want to buy the special tool to change the ratchet, which means that if I want to upgrade it I have to buy the tool myself, which in comparison to the special tool for the old one (aka "fingers") is annoying.
