A tale of two Chesinis

After liberating a little space with the sale of the Concorde these two are going to get a bit of attention.

The Innovation has been my favourite bike to ride but the corrosion seems to have been taking hold particularly round the BB and the panto on the HT, and the chrome on the rear triangle and forks has seen better days. Cue re-chrome of the forks and rear triangle followed by reinstatement of paint in as close a match to original as possible. DT shifter bosses to be replaced by barrel adjusters at the top of the DT. Lead time on the chroming is likely to be 1-3 months :(

The K2 was part of DirkdenD’s collection of 50 or 60 Chesinis - not sure if the entire collection has been broken up but this came to me via velosalon. Apart from some damage to the shifter bosses it’s in really good condition, some paint chips but doesn’t seem to have been ridden much. I have Ultegra 6700, some H+Son Archetypes (nicked from the Scapin where they’re only really needed for TTs), 3T Ergonovas, and a no-name post ready to go but waiting on a UI-12 quill stem and a SMP Forma to complete the build.

K2 built up and taken on a 50 mile shakedown around the Cotswolds. Used the Mavics instead of the H+Sons, heavier but absolutely fine. Slight problem with the seatpost - the lug is a really solid casting and the binder doesn't have much effect, so ended up using a shim which needed to be a super tight fit to get any clamping effect. Other than that I'm pleased with it, although not sure if the bar tape really goes:

I quite like it, looks fitting. What's that stem?

Nitto UI-12. I like using 31.8mm bars and there aren't many other quill stems available for those.
