Is the special red grease for pawls too? I thought it was just for their star ratchet setup.
But at any rate this sounds like a classic over-greased ratchet issue - either too much or the wrong type causes the pawls to glue down. Been there done that, cleaned it off and used less lube.
My vague as fuck memory thinks the red grease doesn't really stay red but I don't recall it being silver either. I did use a similar product that turned out to not be similar at all and was cream coloured.

My DT Swiss 240S hub (current gen) turned itself into a bi-directional freewheel yesterday.
Current gen meaning the "240" (they dropped the "S") with the new ratchet design? If so this is a recurring issue with certain batches, DT are taking wheels back no-questions-asked for a retrofit:

A lot of people are seeing this issue:

I've always used ... Dunno if I should say this.... A bath of Finishline Wet in my DT free hubs, never had any problems. Got a little bottle of it that I use now and again, definitely don't put it on your chain though.
Also did the same in my Hunts, if you like loud, they're loud. The free hub seal is a fucker to get back on BTW.
My DT Swiss 240S hub (current gen) turned itself into a bi-directional freewheel yesterday.
Pulled the cassette out to find that the toothed ratchet had stuck inside the microspline body, freed that and put the cassette back on and carried on with the ride, interesting failure though.
The grease in there is silver- anyone know if the special red grease that DT Swiss gives you goes silver from tiny particles wearing, or has the bike shop put the wrong stuff in?
