Dowsett? How does he even conceivably make that list?
-
• #33328
I reckon DowseTT is a bit of a giveaway.
-
• #33329
His team history doesn't exactly scream milk and early nights.

If we were playing 'spot the clean cyclist' in the pro ranks for the entire history of pro cycling the results would be depressingly minimal. I listed those who have won tts at the highest level with no judgements on how they achieved them.

And Simon Yates? One swallow doesn't make a summer.
-
• #33332
Anyway, the point I was making stands: there is a long history of riders who have done well in domestic TTs who've gone to Europe expecting to be up with the best, only to discover that a diet of dual carriageway 10s and 25s doesn't help when it comes to racing against the best riders in the world.

is the coverage of tour of Rwanda working for anyone on gcn+?

Guilt by association as a basis for accusing someone of dishonesty? Stay classy.

Evenepoel is 7/2 for the Giro despite never having ridden a grand tour.
Not sure what that says about the rest of the field but it looks pretty wide open. Bernal says his back is better but I suppose we’ll see whether it’s up to three weeks of racing.
Yates is the only other rider with a grand tour win.
Should be a great race.

Not forgetting last years behind the scenes video on the stelvio . Stay with tayo ffs stay with him you weapon.
-
• #33337
Yeah there are either a very short or very long list of contenders depending on perspective. Hoping evenepoel is strong and Yates and him go at it.

Or raced this season. With that final week, it'd take a brave man to bet money on him. I think DQS will back Almeida as their GC hope and just let Evenepoel ride his own race.
-
• #33339
His own race being a mental breakaway where he gains 5 minutes on the GC rivals...
Probably.
-
• #33340
Betting on the prodigy that is Evenepoel isn't stupid, betting on him at those odds is. Without any idea of his current condition, how he will deal with 3 weeks or back to back Dolomite stages the quoted odds are ridiculous.

• #33341
Nibali confirmed to be riding, just 4 weeks after breaking a bone in his wrist. I very much doubt he can win it but the chances are he'll have an influence on who does.

I didn’t know that. Nice little three week tune-up!
-
• #33343
I went for a bike ride yesterday after breaking my wrist two weeks ago.....
-
• #33344
..... I realised it was a stupid idea after 15 minutes so turned around and went home. 😂

Not pro cycling but Halesowen Academy have got the coolest kit in all of cycling thanks to a favourite old sponsor...

OT: will Hugh Carthy make an impression in the coming giro? -
• #33347
I hope so, I really like him
-
• #33348
Would have been very interesting how he would have got on in last year's Giro if he/his team had picked that instead of the Vuelta
-
• #33349
Carthy seems to have top 5 as an aim. Perhaps playing his chances down a little bit?
Look forward to seeing how Jaira Hindley goes this time, particularly with Bardet also in the team.

I would like to see Hindley and Bardet do well but I just have a vision of a good first couple of weeks before an inevitable bad day or two ruins it all
Is that list a suspected doperz srs bznzz dinnerz klub (bar Boardman, the exception that proves the rule)?
