  • I do however think the E class is a better design, and it's got much more space - and in E63 form is around the same power as the Turbo-S.

    The seats, however...

  • US had arranged sealed beam light rules.

  • Looks like a squelched Mazda6...

  • The seats

But can't you just swap your seat out?

Otherwise the E class seems like the right choice for what you say you need.

  • On the 996 that's as simple as unplugging the heating elements, the E63 is significantly more sophisticated - the seats stuffed full of air-bags and sensors. I suspect the car would get upset if a bunch of safety critical items were not there when it looked for them.

If I'm correct and it's the lumbar support that is the issue then I can get the seat modified without upsetting the computers.

  • I think I knew that if that’s what I meant, also some of the bumper set ups
For euro imports bitd where terrible also

  • Fwiw I saw a Taycan today and it was much better irl than in pictures.

My boring side however does wonder what the point of a car like that is.

  • Haha great scene and didn’t
    Seem so bothered by it!

  • They do look nice as a whole just as said the lights look really shit. As said like the e type but also like those masses of 70’s80’s kit cars that looked kind of smooth but then realised they need a viva or fiesta or the like for lights.

  • U have hit on something. I don't like the Mclaren 720 for this reason also.

I see a skull with sockets rather than eyes.

  • Kind of this

  • The faux electric motor noise is subtly V12 sounding. It would be a fantastic piece of sound design work if didn't sound like it was playing through cheap speakers and wasn't exactly like a car in the computer game Cyberpunk 2077.

  • I'm all for the Taycan. If you forget that it's a Porsche I think it looks pretty great, just a bit shit for a Porsche.

Also re: @Dammit driver seat, there are little plug in doodads you can get to trick the ECU into thinking the original seat is still installed if you did want to swap the seat or else get someone to code them out. Shouldn't be a big stumbling block considering your commitment to other motoring workarounds and swaps...

  • Is there a beginners guide to track days out there that I should be reading if I'm thinking of booking my first one? How/where to book? What to look out for? Where is good for a beginner? What to bring? etc. etc.

  • (there are loads out there if you google it, just wandering whether anyone has any recommendations)

  • Don't eat loads and feel lathergic. Bring spare oil, was surprised how much I burnt (old car). Don't put the handbrake on straight after being on track. Ex-aerodrome tracks are great with ample run offs for beginners. Check your exhaust db level before getting on track (mobile phone app), you will be sent home. If you can get some tuition or seat time with an instructor well worth it. Dont crash.

  • This. Other than making sure your car will meet the noise limits, it's all pretty much common sense. Make sure the car's in a good condition, make sure you've got a helmet or have one available, and don't think that enthusiasm will allow you to ignore the laws of physics. And take a spare pair of underpants just in case you forget the last bit!

  • Decide whether you want to get insurance as it's unlikely your current policy will cover you

  • Are you taking your own car?
