That’s pretty neat. There were a number of English Catholics serving in the armies of France during the same period also.
I read somewhere that the number one export from Scotland in the 16/17th century was mercenaries and that they are the forebears of noble houses all over Europe.

Doing a little family tree for a cousin who’s getting married. Was reminded that we have two regicides in the family, William Hewlett and Edward Whalley.
